**URGENT** THOSE WITH MODIFIED CARS- inc spoilers & wheels

Post by Capncol »

There is a new threat from Brussels for anyone with a car with even a slight modification. The car forums are on fire with this
See here
http://www.the-ace.org.uk/armageddon/
http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/new ... proposals/

There are over 2 million modified cars in this country supported by an industry worth over £20million per year.
The Country is allready financially crippled. Do we really need another industry and all it's associated jobs to go down the pan?

In the proposal (which will become law in six weeks unless challenged)
Firstly all vehicles other than clearly defined Historic must undergo a roadworthiness test and part of that will ensure that the vehicle meets its original Type Approval, i.e. is totally standard.
This affects us all as this proposed test is bound to be more expensive than our current MOT.
It's not stated, but I'm guessing it may also effect the service parts you buy for instance afternmarket brake pads for Europart or whatever.

Just to be clear about type approval:-
This includes such things as what tyres, brakes, spoilers "lexus" lights etc: you can fit.

So those of us with-
Body kits
Lexus lights
Aftermarket alloy wheels
Chip tuning and intake kits
Stainless or big bore exhausts
Aftermarket seats, and so on
WILL BE AFFECTED!!
Please look at http://www.the-ace.org.uk (Association of Car Enthusiasts) website for full details and what we can do to stop it.
Please spread the word on any other forums you belong to, even if it's not a car related forum, as many people own cars that are either classic, modified or customised in some way.

You can write to your MP or MEP and get thier address here http://www.writetothem.com/?keyword=fin ... 4QodTWcHlg

PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD
Cheers Col.
