Hi,
I have a 2002 Peugeot 206 CC with the factory fitted radio and standard arieal. Recently i have found after driving on the motorway at speed and listening to the radio the radio loses signal. I still have power to the unit but it is really fuzzy and i cannot pick up any station. When this happened the first time i left it over night and the radio worked fine. This time it has been going on for a couple of days and i am left without the radio. Any idea what this could be? Wondering if it could be a lost connection in the arieal?
Any help is really appreciated.

Re: Radio Signal
Maybe faulty aerial (fault shows up due to wind buffeting of aerial???)

Resurrected from the dead!
I'm having the same problem but all the time, the reception is incredibly patchy and just washes in and out whilst driving.
Is it worth trying to replace the aerial???

Re: Radio Signal
Yep.
Also check for corrosion around the aerial base/ plug area

Re: Radio Signal
Update, I bought a new aerial from eBay for £8. Unscrewed the old one (which was badly corroded as suggested) and screwed the new one in with the new thread that was supplied, and the radio works perfectly again.

Re: Radio Signal
Hi,
Since i originally posted this subject my radio worked but now i have lost signal on the radio and it has stayed like this for about 3 weeks now.
Is it worth still changing the aerial or do you think there is a lose connection or the base needs replacing?

Re: Radio Signal
They're not that expensive. Change it, and you will see if it's corroded or not when you get the old one off.

Re: Radio Signal
Have you checked that the plug hasn't fallen out of the back of your radio?

Re: Radio Signal
I have checked this and the cable is plugged in. How easy is it to change the aerial cable as that can be the only fault?

Re: Radio Signal
It's not easy and it's probably not the cable itself I would double check the connections, after that, I think it's a specialist radio installer (not Halfords)

Re: Radio Signal
Holy post ressurection, Batman!
Just for future informtion if anyone needs to change the antenna cable, it's not that difficult and I did mine yesterday evening in about 15 minutes, this is my procedure if it's helpful for anyone!
* Fold the roof
* Remove radio and unplug aerial
* Remove the center roof courtesy light by prising it out with a blade or a thin screwdriver from the opposite side of the 3 position switch[/list]
* Remove the bulb holder from the lamp assembly by pushing on the 2 grey side tabs and sliding the bulb away from the switch assembly.
* Look into the hole left by the lamp in the roof and locate the 2 plastic tabs. Pull back gently on both and the lamp holder assembly falls out. Take the lamp holder out of the assembly.
* Unclip both sunvisors, and unscrew the clip with a torx T5 bit (or a very small blade screwdriver)
* Remove the bolted end of the sunvisors with a torx T20 bit, or a larger blade screwdriver (if you don't have Torx bits, now's the time to think about spending a few quid!).
* Gently but firmy unclip the roof panel from the car to expose the roof cabling.
* Trace through where aerial cable to see which pillar it goes down. On mine (French hand drive) it goes down the right hand windscreen pillar.
* Unbolt another T20 torx screw that holds the pillar cover and gently by firmly pull away and out to expose the cabling and aerial cable.
* Open the side door on the side of the now naked pillar and prise out the dashboard side panel that the door would have covered.
* Unscrew the aerial from the cable in the roof with an 8mm pipe spanner or socket. Careful the aerial does not fall on you! Check the base of the aerial for rust, and clean up if needed.
* Start to install your new cable from the top aerial connector down to the radio (it is easier to twist the small end around the twists of the pillars than the bigger antenna bolt on bit). Bolt the new base onto the antenna (this is why you need the top down, to hold the aerial in place so pushing the connector and bolting it up does not pop the aerial out of the roof.
* Install the new cable and remove the old one as you go along.
* There are half a dozen plastic clip along the top of the roof bar, 4 or 5 down the pillar, then the cable ducks behind the dashboard, behind a piece of steel, out from below, through a final clip, then traces loosely behind the top of the glovebox and pops out in the centre console (make sure the cable does trace along straight or the cable may try to escape into the rear depths of the console!)
* Put everything back together. The pillar panel was the biggest pain to reinstall, as it's easy to bend the metal spring clips as you try to locate the appropriate holes. Take your time, put it back slowly, and peer down to make sure all the spring bosses line up with the appropriate holes.
Job done!
Cheers,
Daniel
