roof not completing closing cycle

Post by 123lilhack »

hi all i am also a newbie and hoping you can help...the last twice i closed my roof it didnt completely close as in it didnt butt itself up to the windscreen so i couldnt place the clips in and there was a gap at the back where it folds above the rear screen..its as though whatever cog is used to push the roof forward when closing isnt working correctly..i had to obviously close my roof so place the clips in and manually pulled the roof forward to meet the windscreen and it made a loud bang noise that scared me so now i dont want to use it..it flows up and down fine and folds and unfolds with no problems its just the finally part...any ideas please, shes a 2001 if that helps.thanks kerri

Hi I recently had the roof stuck half way, my fault as i stopped it from going down as i wanted to look at something that was rattling in the back, the roof got stuck, managed to get it fully down, but it wouldnt close back up, had to quickly drive to peugeot dealer, as it was about to chuck down with rain, anyway I confused the computed, it cost me over £100 I wont be doing that again! you can do the roof manual but best to take to people who knows what there doing

Hi Kerri and welcome.
It is normal for the clips to close with a bit of a bang if you close them using the flat of your hand. The roof clips need to compress the seals at the front and back of the "lid" to make them watertite, hence why the clips are stiff. If you close the clips using you thumb on the back to stop them slamming closed you will probably find it less scary
