Radio losing memory??

Post by williamraff »

Hi folks, the cd player in our recent acquisition did not remember radio pre sets so I assumed it was a dodgy stereo - trouble is I have bought a new one and it is doing exactly the same - loses the pre set radio stations when you switch it off it also forgets what track it was playing and goes back to the start of the CD.

I have read posts on the internet which suggest swapping the red and yellow wires around on the back of the stereo but mine (2001 2.0cc) does not have a red wire?

I have checked with a test screwdriver and I have a constant live (white) feed and an ignition live feed (blue) but there is a thick yellow wire which looks as if it might be a live feed but does not actually do anything?

If anyone knows where i need to be looking your thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks,Will :)

The fitting instructions on your new cd player should show you which are the 2 live feeds.

if its a after market HU you should have a ISO connector which you can swap the red and yellows around via bullet connecters on the wiring of the ISO if not swap via the pins in the block its self i think its pins 4 and 7 on the loom
