Clutch slipping
Hi, my girlfriend just got a 2005 206 and after driving a bit I've noticed the clutch "slips" at high revs/speed. That is, when overtaking and I accelerate the revs go ups but the the car doesn't speed up as much as it should, the revs will then suddenly drop back down (say from 3000 to 2300) when the clutch fully "bites" again.
Is this problem fixable at home? What's the cause? Is it going to cause a lot of trouble later on?

Clutch should be self adjusting, especially if a hydraulic clutch pedal, so if it's slipping, it's worn out ... 
It's fixable, if you know how to get the gearbox out.
Will it cause problems? Leave it like it is and she'll lose the clutch altogether at some stage.

Thanks for the info, that does not sound good! I've never gone near a car gearbox/clutch but I've tinkered with motorbikes in the past and I'm pretty mechanically-minded. And I'm broke so a home-fix it is! What exactly do I need to replace? I might start ringing around scrapyards...

Don't buy a secondhand clutch. it is false economy. Get a Haynes manual and see what's involved.
If you do undertake the job, make sure you use proper stands and jacks as you will be dealing in heavy weights. I think I weighed those g/boxes at 30KG. You don't want that or the car falling on your head.

Get a clutch kit (Plate, Cover, and Release bearing) Yours is the one with hydraulic clutch release. Seen them for around £50 or less on the bay. Try and get a known make such as Valio (OE) Borg & Beck, LUK , Unipart. You can get the Valio from Europart.

Slave cylinder is external Ron, and he's trying to do it on a budget. If it gives trouble later, he could always change it without taking the 'box back out.
