Hello from Leeds

Post by williamraff »

Hi folks just bought my wife a 206cc, she has been wanting one for years and now she finally has one, a 2001 2.0 in what I think is recife blue - not sure where to find the colour code.

Anyway it drove back to Otley from Doncaster fine and everything seems to be in order apart from a blow from the rear silencer and a little more brake pedal travel than I would like but it was cheap £1,150 and appears to be all the same colour, can't find any overspray or orange peel and all the panel gaps seem good.

I will probably replace the discs and pads, change the brake fluid and adjust the handbrake - can anyone advise what issues are prevalent with the 2006 brakes or should they be pretty good?
I will post some pics in due course and advise of progress.

Regards,Will.

Hi Will and welcome.
Brakes are fairly good with 4 wheel discs. Handbrake can be a bit poor due to it operating on the discs.
These cars sometimes suffer from air leaks from the servo/piping, other than that, quite straightforward. Don't forget........the rear caliper pistons wind back.
Cheers Col.

Cheers, I will check the servo/pipework, I have just checked the front discs and pads and they are pretty recent - think the brake pedal should be a bit better though? Don't suppose you know how I would get the correct locking wheel nut remover do you?
Thanks,Will.

You will hear a hissing when the engine is running if servo or pipework is suspect. Can't help with wheelnut key I'm afraid. I do know a company that will remove the locking bolts so that you can replace them. Depends where you are.

EDIT Col being a twit didn't read the post title. Company I'm thinking of don't travel that far north. Sorry.
Cheers Col.
