Electrical 206CC problems

Hello all,

I've been lurking around this site since buying my 206CC in November and I have found answers to a few queries I have had about my car.

However, now I have one that I can't find the answer to. Yesterday I put the key in to start the car and noticed that the clock and the temperature on the right side of the display were fainter than the date. I'm assuming that it is just a bulb that has blown since I can still see everything - it is just dimmer than normal. My question is: are these bulbs easy to get at and change or not? There seems to be nothing about this in the manual and I was just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem.

Thank you in advance,

HelenJ

Hi, never had the problem before but I have taken apart the centre console in the past.

The top part just lifts off when pushing it back, up or down, cant remember which order but its fairly easy to do. (Think you can access the rear of the display after that).

Thanks for the responses - I didn't realise that it was that easy to access the bulbs. I had pictured loads of time taking things apart to change a tiny bulb!

Thanks again,

HelenJ

Glad I read all that as I needed to change the bulbs and had no idea as the handbook said nowt. All very easy! Only problem was that Halfords did not stock the bulbs and I had to drive a fair way to nearest Peugeot garage- bought them there £1.83 each plus VAT.

Pleased that you found the appropriate thread Pete. Our search facility works quite well I think. Some people still need spoon feeding though. Glad you're not one of 'em.

My MFD display was really feint so I took it out and took the whole display unit in to my Peugeot dealer and they replaced them for me and cost a whopping £1.80 for all 3 capless bulbs... fitted! Finally a good experience with Peugeot Norwich!! (Even tho they did try and charge me £3.20 each but they were the wrong bulbs!!) Very easy to do, took less than 5 mins!

Hi
Can anybody help me I've recently bought a 206 gti sp but the stereo didn't work as the previous owner changed the battery and lost the code, I had this de coded the other day but the display on the dash above the hazard warning button does not wok, it never has since I had the car
I thought this was linked to the stereo, any ideas why it's not working???

Could be that the bulbs have all blown - there are 3 of them. Or the connector plug could have come loose. Dead easy to get at - see above. Just use some tissue paper or a thin cloth to avoid marking the plastic when prising it out with a thin screwdriver. Lift it at the back then push it away at the front, then prise it out. It is easier to get at the bulbs if you undo the torx screw and take the unit out, but it can be done in situ if you are very careful. There are two types of bulbs though as Dav1ey says, so make sure you get the right ones when you've identified them. The more expensive ones come complete with the bulb holder, the cheaper ones are just pull out / push in ones. They are not interchangeable. The connector plug is obvious when you've withdrawn the display unit.

I thought there were just 3 bulbs in that top unit - ah well, I've learnt something new.

I guess those lower bulbs have blown too, or the connector is loose. Similar to your others but harder to get at.

If I were you I would invest in a Haynes Workshop manual for the 206. Manual 4613 covers the 206 from 2002 to 2006 and is about £15 on eBay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-206-D ... 5ae44432ed

I don't think it covers the engine mechanicals of your model but it helps with the rest. Check it out and see if it is worth buying for yourself.

Pebbles, is your A/C display lit when you have no lights on? I have noticed with mine that only the A/C display dims when the lights come on. The top MFD stays well lit at all times. Also you can adjust the brightness by the left button in the dash where the speedo is. :)
