2005 1.6 Tip Auto gearbox issue

Post by Dav1ey »

Hi all, I have had my 2005 1.6 Allure with the Tip Auto gearbox for nearly a month now and it would seem that the gear changes seem to be taking longer going between 3rd and 4th.
It works fine with the manual "tip" and is smooth when knocking up to 3rd and 4th but when in normal Auto it just does not seem right going round town. It is fine on the dual carriageway when pulling away and is smooth, it is just round town. Car done 50000 miles. I don't know if it is just me getting used to the car or if there may be a problem. Also, if I pull away swiftly in Sport mode it is really clunky to start with. Any ideas or previous knowledge of this sort of issue greatly accepted. Cheers, Dave.

my old smart car had the same problem, i changed the gearbox oil and re-greased the clutch actuator which made it slightly better but i thick it is one of those tiptronic things on all cars. has it got paddle shift? or are you using the stick

You would think being called a "TIP" gear box it would have paddles eh? But it is just built in to the gear change gate, it is quite good really, unless you forget to change up lol, which I keep forgetting to do! But I have driven a lot of miles this weekend and seems ok really, think it is just me worrying but I have it booked in to the dealer where I brought it from for a healthcheck next month so hopefully should all be ok.

if it has "hall effect sensors" on the gear change PCB then paddles can be fitted
