Beeping roof... !

Post by Ellie11883 »

Hi again,

I have read numerous blogs on here reference beeping roofs. I had a REME guy (Army mechanic) to most have a look, unfortunately, there aren't too many convertibles that need fixing in the Army, so he wasn't able to help much. He looked at the motor and computer in the boot.... there was some fluid on the motor/hydraulic part. I live in Cyprus, this is my first ever car, plus I am a stereotypical female.... Does this sound like a electrical problem or a motor problem? All fuses were checked and ok...
Any advice much appreciated, as if I am to go to a Peugeot dealer out here, they will see me coming and charge me a loooooooot most probably!!!

Hi Ellie.
In your initial post, you said
Hi. Just bought a 206 cc 2001 in Cyprus. Just recently there has been a constant interior alarm going off - no visual warning light. Would I be correct in thinking this is the roof? It just suddenly came on the alarm. I haven't had the roof down, the screen in the boot is across and the release mech...
I think in your shoes, I would try and put the roof down if you haven't already tried it. If the alarms are to do with the roof, I think it either won't go down, or it will go down (and back up) and will possibly reset the alarm in doing so.
If the roof doesn't go down, then tell us exactly what happens and we can advise further (e.g: Motor whirring / nothing moving) or other info that would help us, help you.

If this is the first ever time you have operated the roof, make sure you do nothing else while roof is moving
(for instance, don't start engine, or open door. In fact nothing at all)

Only release the switch when you have the confirmation "bong" to say operation is complete (same with roof going up)
Cheers Col.

When requesting help of a technical nature, please give as much detail of the fault as possible along with details of exact model, engine size & type, gearbox, year, mileage, and any relevant work carried out to try to solve the problem to help us help you.
Better still, put the details in your signature.

I don't get the confirmation bong to indicate that the roof is either completely up/down. Since doing the manual closure of the roof, the roof won't operate at all now, but still get the constant beeping! "This is Cyprus my friend".... I'm worried I'm not going to get this rectified!!!

Hello again.

Thought this problem had been rectified!!... When to the electrician weeks ago... he seemed to fix the beeping situation, but broke my roof latch in the process. I have since bought a new roof latch which is now in situ. Took the roof down, but I didn't get the confirmation bong to indicated roof was securely down, nor did I get the bong if the roof was back up..... this obviously meant the car continuously starting beeping again! When the car was stationary with the roof down, I had a look and noticed that on the drivers side of the boot... it wasn't fully closed... pressed firmly down and the beeping stopped.... does this mean that something needs tightening in the mechanism of the roof/boot?

Any advice much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Ellie
