Clock,temp display not working

Post by doofus »

Hi,
I have a 206 roland garros Y reg. the audio system is Audio 2040. The'offset display', which I think it is called according to handbook either doesn't display or is very very dim and only partially displays.

I really am not very mechanically minded and would probably need to be 'talked through' and possible solution. Can someone please please help!!

many thanks,

Pete

If you search on this forum I am sure I have seen someone post tips on how to change the display illuminating ones for new ones. After 12 years yours are likely to have either burnt out completely or are so blackened that they are next to useless. The bulbs don't cost much.

Feel free to use the search facility on the forum.

Oh, and welcome.

Since changing the bulbs everything was Ok for a while. What has been happening recently is that the whole display keeps going off.

A little tap on the screen seemed to rectify it for a while. This then got progressivlely worse and I had to remove the top cover and tap and push the unit till the display came on. That worled OK for a few weeks even though it became very tedious doing that.

Now to cut a long story short- it no longer illuminates whatever I do. I doubt all the bulbs would ahve gone simultaneously and I only changed the whole lot a couple of months ago via the Peugeot spare parts.

Does anyone have any idea what has happened and what I can do about it. Would a diagnostic check at Kwikfit come up with the solution or problem?

Please help and advise. Thanks, Pete

PS I did try to use the search engine for this but no luck.

Sounds like a faulty/broken contact in the connector plug. Or get another screen off a scrap 206.

Thanks for that. Just rang Peugeot garage at Pontypridd and they said they have to do a diagnostic check first to confirm what I have said and charge £78. God knows how much it will cost me for them to solve the problem after.

I will try and get what you suggested- do you know what the actual 'screen' is called?

If I do get it then I just hope it is easy enough to replace by getting a local garage to do it for me. What do you think? Thanks, Pete
