New Owner of Old 206 y Plate

Post by Gsxr206 »

Hey folks, just looking for pointers

bought a y plate 206 cc 2.0 for cheap and has a few issue that i am trying to sort any tips or advice would be handy.

1) creaking coming from front. Think this might be ABR bushes?

2) there is also a lot of clucking and banging when pulling away and driving, you can feel it. feels like the wheels have slipped or came off the ground :S

3) one of the driver side wheel bolts is really tight, and wont budge i am scared i snap the head off. any advice.

4) spots of rust on arch's and wings Lips, do you think I should sand and hammerrite etc. to reprevent further corrsion?

5) radio screen on dash(not sure what it's called, looks like it part working and not display character correctly.

6) need new brake pipes..joy, any one treated theres after getting new ones fitted? to prevent corrsion?

Thanks

Si

My 4 pennorth:
1) Don't know
2) Worn tyres?
3) Use an extension bar. It's gonna have to come off some time. Better at home than out on the road somewher.
4) I'm no expert on bodywork - sorry.
5) Sounds as if bulb(s) have gone. Remove the display and replace any bulbs that have burnt out. Easy job.
6) Use cupro-nickel brake pipe when replacing. e.g. Kunifer. It doesn't corrode like steel pipe.

Welcome to the forum.

Cheers Monkey

Ill take a look into that brake pipes stuff.

tyres look fine, but Ill get them checked.
it feels like the engine is trying bust it way through

creaking is when steering, sounds like a hooker getting banged on a cheap bed :(.
If I jack the car up off the ground and then put it back down again the creaking stops for about a day.

Sounds familar monkey :)

I have new on order

anti roll bar bushes
top strut mounts
CV boot Kits, as some nob as tie rapped them and they keep slipping off, but not knocking on turning..phew lol.
front disc's and pads.

I cant see obvious play on the drop links, dnt know how test the lower arms, I'll check.

but symtons seem similar, pulling away accelerating, driving over cobbeled street sounds like I have a heavy metal drummer in the car psml.

will order drop links as they are only 15 quid each just incase

and just a little play in the front wheel bearings, really small.

good point RedKev, might do that on parts that show, but for arch lips etc not really fussed about finish, just getting it coated to prevent further rust. :)
