I recently bought my 206. A week today.
When driving home from work which is 8 miles, the temp picks up to about 80/90 (I say this because when she is cold its fine) and the engine management light comes on, beep sounds are heard and if I have stopped the rev counter revs then drops below idle speed but engine does not cut out. This happens for short periods of time so intermittent.
The engine feels as if she is firing off 3 cylinders.
What could the problem be and what should the temp gauge be as I want to flush radiator and replace thermostat. Possibly the sensor as well?

I have replaced the petrol map sensor as I was told it could be that.
Still does the same, miss fires.
Once again any Ideas?

Sorry for the lack of replies. I only ever had that happen to me with a Vauxhall. In that case the ECU chip had gone, fortunately even though it was just out of warranty, Vauxhall only charged me a minimal fee. Not sure if that is your problem but ...

Re: Intermittent engine management light- power loss/surge
I chose the better plan and took her in for a diagnostic check.
Initially there were 6 faults that we reset then I went around the block and she did the same so I took her back and it was found to be injector number 3.
I have now put in injection cleaner and will run her for 3 days. Failing that I will replace the injector and the mechanic man said it could be the loom which I will leave till last.
Breakers are charging £10.00 for the injector and £20.00 for the loom which is a good price.
Lovely car, just the hassle.

Re: Intermittent engine management light- power loss/surge
I thought I'd keep you all posted as I see ppl are reading this, just not replying (except one)
Anyway today I decided to do DIY and removed the injectors myself and clean with left over injection cleaner.
1 nut at the rear that was the difficult one to remove and all it took was #10 socket, spanner and a thin flat screw driver.
Once all off I cleaned them then replaced then in order of removing.
I started the car and she fired up as she should, then took her for a ride.
Initially all went well then guess what?
It started all over again so now I'll replace injector #3 along with all the seal on the other injectors and see if it works next time around.
She does now idle higher than last time when miss firing.
I will still welcome any suggestions.

If the diagnostic said injector no. 3 then I'd replace it with a new one.

Re: Intermittent engine management light- power loss/surge
I've been looking on other forums and ppl have swopped injectors.
Tomorrow I'm going to swop injector #3 with another and see if there is a difference before replacing.
It will only take +-60 min
"hoping" and failing that I'll still replace number 3 on Thursday.
I've also been reading that the original Bosh plugs are best, so they too will be replaced.
I've not played with cars since leaving school and now this has given me a challenge to get to the bottom of it.

An update;
I have replaced injector #3 and all is back to normal.
For a total cost of £35.00 I have a working 206 again
