Help!!..Problem with boot and display on dash board

On my way to work this morning the warning sound kept beeping and the display on the dash said my boot was open!
I stopped several times to open and close the boot...but still the sound kept beeping and the dash kept flashing! I even gave the boot a good slam to make sure it was closed, its clicking in fine and looks secure so I'm assuming the problem is electrical...maybe a sensor somewhere?!?

So.....now the roof wont go down...because it thinks the boots open! And the remote locking wont work...because it thinks the boots open! Luckily I was able to lock the doors manually but the drive home was very annoying!!

I had the roof open yesterday...there didn't seem to be any problem! The roof came back up fine and the car locked ok...it was just this morning that this annoying problem appeared!!

Can anyone help with this?

A cautionary note, be careful slamming the boot, my other half had a habit of doing this and damaged one of the gas struts which we had to replace.
