still got roof problem....

Post by tonyken »

please please can somebody tell me the exact location of the microswitch in the boot I need to replace, my problem is the windows go down , boot goes up then pump keeps going but nothing else happens, I know another member has had the same problem and knows the location but I don't think they are on here anymore. had four weeks without roof down now :(
I presume it is on the boot lid somewhere ( got all the covering off parcel shelf and pump don't think it's one of those ) can't tell on the video where it is exactly.
Thanks in anticipation.

it may be the switch that is hidden by the left hand side boot hinge

somewhere there is a drawing showing all the micro switch positions

I've sticked the link as the roof problems are becoming more common as our cars age.

Your a star, Thar, found the switch on the boot lid, get this for stupidity, engine running, wedged the roof switch open, windows go down, boot lid goes up, then I press that switch manually, hey presto the roof comes down, had to move my hand out sharpish so not to break it :o !!! then realise the roof will only go back up when that switch is pressed ( now covered by the roof :censored: !!! ) all this in slight drizzle downpour at any minute ( no garage ). with much dexterity I managed to move the switch with a long screwdriver, roof back up but boot lid wouldn't close. Closed that manually and now have constant beeping over 7mph !!!, will sort that as have read that problem on here so will research that one .   now.....
Thanks for that again, Tony.

Well done Tony for sorting it, and for feeding back the solution.

Well done Thar too, for pointing Tony in the right direction.

This thread may well help someone else with similar symptoms.

Thanks for that Ron, I do hope it helps someone else, I know it was driving me mad and reading a lot of posts on subject had visions of taking it to garage and being charged a fortune for them to probably diagnose the wrong thing and put unesesary parts on as other members have experienced .
Best owners forum around.
