You need to grip hold of both sides of the seat cover and pull up. The seat pads are hooked over two clips attached to the bodywork behind the seat cover. It does need a fair bit of strength to get them off, I found it harder to get them back on to be honest!

Alternatively you can remove the base of the rear seat. There are two nuts just under the seat pad, if you remove the nuts you can pull the whole seat base out. This gives easier access to the rear seats pads. Sounds fiddly but it's very easy to put everything back in place.

It's advisable to lower the roof before you start as it is a squeeze in the back.

One final tip, make sure you check that the new hoops allow for the a gap between them and the rear window before you replace the roof.

Thar.

Can the aftermarket chrome hoops you see on ebay be slightly too long then ? So when you close the roof the window gets smashed.

Is the length adjustable to ensure the gap is correct when you fit them ?

Just pull the top of the back seat forward. It's easy, I do it all the time to check the screws on my chrome hoops (they have a habit of loosening themselves) and as Thar said, it's harder to put the seat back ok - you need to lift it up and push it back, can be quite a task but not after you've got the hang of it :)

They should be the right length but if they're aftermarket it's worth the checking to save you from a costly accident.
