Hello,
I have a 206 LX 1.1. I got in my car today and all was fine but somewhere between a period of 15mins of not being in the car to trying to pull away again I couldn't find 1st or 2nd gear. Rather than the gear stick staying put once in gear I seem to be able to move it around quite a lot. A family member advised me that it could be the link rods?
Could anyone confirm this for me please or anything else they think it may be.
If I push the gearstick forward I just get 3rd and back i just get 4th.
Many thanks

Re: Gearbox problems!
It does sound rather as if one of the link rods has come apart from the ball joint. These do wear over time. It might be possible to grease the ball and the cup and push it back together temporarily but once it has come apart it would be best to replace the rod (or rods) with a new one(s). Otherwise it is likely to come apart again and let you down. They are not expensive.

Re: Gearbox problems!
Thanks for that!
Is it something that is relatively easy to do or is it best to buy the part and take it to the garage?
Thanks for your help on this
Best Regards
