Can someone please help.
Some work was being done on my Pug at which time the battery was removed whilst the roof was down. Now the battery is reconnected the roof won't close and the cord in the boot to close it manually is not there.
Can someone please give me answers to the following questions:
a) how do I repair/replace the cord as I understand you need to pull it to commence the manual procedure
b) if I get the roof closed manually, how do I reset the roof to work mechanically?
I have been told that the system needs to recognise whether the roof is closed or open before it will work correctly again. What does that involve?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Samantha

you need to open the blind in the boot , get the allan key out of the tyre repair kit then put it in the hole on the right had side of the boot and turn it anti-clockwise , then undo the safety catches on the bootlid which are either white or yellow i think then open the boot backwards and insert the allan key into the hole on the right handside of the open bootled to keep it open then lift the roof up lock it in place then take the allan key out , close the boot , put the safety catches back in place , put the allen key back in the hole in the boot and turn clockwise , pull the roller blind back and you should be sorted . sounds like alot but its really easy to do ( just follow this link but ignore the cleesy music and the it about the cord ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbMLjCjD-H8
good luck

Hi Logan
Thank you so much for this information - I will give it to the guys who have the car on Monday. It is being serviced by the student mechanics in the college where I work and hopefully this will sort the problem out.
I will keep you posted.
Thanks once again

Re: Roof stuck open - no roof cord in boot. Help please!
I had the same problem with no cord to pull. My roof was in the open position and I needed to manually close it up. SOOOOO after about a week of trying all sorts of this and trying to find the spot to push, I eventually shoved a piece of wire clothes hanger into the hole where the cord should have been coming from. The wire hanger was slightly too tight for the hole which is what luckily made it grip in there and when I pulled back the wire, the mechanism pulled forward and the shelf dropped so I was finally able to put the roof back up.
So for anyone with no cord who needs to manually put the roof up- grab a wire coat hanger et voila!
