The biggest giveaway of your car's age is its black bumpers. Get them bodycoloured and that would massively freshen it up :D

mmm yeah thats the thing... a spray would probably cost a fair bit, i had my front bumper replaced and sprayed in the metallic Aegean Blue after dad reversed our Pajero into it but insurance covered it and i only saw the lump sum for the bumper, bonnet respray and repair and new foglight bracket, but all up the replacement bumper wasn't too costly and it just clips in. Yours being an MY02 has a slightly different silver to the silver MY04s i think, yours is a tad darker so you can't get a few from breakers unfortunately...

Dunno how far you wanna go with putting updated parts on your car but just know that your lower grille and headlights are different to the facelifted models, also i dunno what your aircon is like but the newer ones have digital automatic climate control.

But what your car needs more than anything in the world is CHROME ROLLOVER BARS. I got a pair for my car and omg i cant believe i didnt think of them sooner! It makes your car look a thousand times better, believe me :)

definitely definitely definitely do it. I bought mine from the UK, 45 pounds for 2 Toyosports mandrel-bent double polished chrome rollover bars. they will definitely freshen up your car's look! Alternatively, and for a bit more money, you can get brushed aluminium hoops from Peugeot (or second hand of an 06 or 07 model) - they will sit more flush on your rear shelf and they have the rubber base, be aware that the chrome ones don't and they also don't sit perfectly flat on the shelf either - not noticeable from the outside though :)

Oh no no no don't get me wrong they will fit but if you look closely at their bases, they don't make full contact all round with the rear shelf... basically any aftermarket hoop will do that, hell even my standard black ones weren't sitting properly either...

They still look great and well worth the money. When I was buying these off eBay, I saw that ad too, but it's postage to Australia was more expensive than the ones I ended up buying but they would be fine :) It will be a massive improvement to your car I guarantee it -

Went from this

to this (but unfortunately this pic was taken on an overcast day - they are mirror-finish and they gleam in the sunlight)

They look great in your rear-view mirror too!

It's one of the simplest modifications to do -

First thing, the roof has to come off. The rollbars have very long roots and the back window will make it impossible to get them out.

The next bit is easiest done by kneeling on the back seat, facing the rollbar. You'll notice the seat has 2 different parts - the horizontal bit you're kneeling on, and the vertical, upright bit. Get your fingertips between the top of the upright bit of the seat and pull towards yourself. The seat will lever forward. While you can take it off completely, I don't know how to get it back on so I suggest you don't haha. It may need a bit of force but you won't break anything.

Now you'll see the two threads of the rollbars exposed. Unscrew the two nuts and then just pull the rollbar straight up and out. Unscrewing can be a challenge, you need a very small spanner. You can't use a socket because the nut is right up against the back wall of the car, and you can't just use your hands because it's screwed on too tight. I can check for you what size spanner you'll need, it took me a looooong time to find the right size - lucky dad has a massive spanner set!!!

Fit your new ones in, screw the nut back on (not too tight! There's no stop on them so once the nut has reached the top, it will start pulling the rollbar downwards and it will dig into the plastic!). You can use your fingers for most of it, (my new ones had a much longer root than the stock ones did) but to tighten it properly towards the end you'll need the spanner. If you don't tighten it, they will rattle and the nut will fall off and you'll never get it back lol.

To get the seat back on, get your fingers underneath the upright bit of the seat, between the two seat sections. Lift the upright section upwards as much as you can, then lean forward and push it in using your arms and chest. There are two tabs on the car that angle upwards, you have to get the two metal loops on the seat up and over those two tabs. Easy to pull out but a little harder to get back on.

I will take some pics to try to aid this sketchy explanation, which makes it sound really complex and difficult but i assure you, it isn't believe me, it's very simple :)

Oh and as for how long it took, it took me a good hour or so because I didn't have the right equipment and was trying sockets and all different spanner sizes but if you already have the right size spanner, it should only take about 15-20 mins.

Merry Christmas everyone! It's Boxing Day for me now though and I dunno what time it is over there but have a great one anyway!
