Hi all
Started my 206cc (2001 SE) yesterday in the cold and left it idling whilst I dealt with the snow on it, then the engine cut out. Started it again and the engine diagnostics light was flashing.
The light is still flashing today despite a brief battery disconnection. I understand from looking on here that if it is flashing it means a 'live' fault. I did take it for a brief drive (before I had read about damaging the cat!) and it seemed to run fine, could not feel or hear a misfire at all.
Any thoughts on what it could be? Can independent garages read the codes or will I need to take it to a Peugeot garage? Is it worth doing this or just get my local garage to look over the likely suspects (sensors, plugs, coil)? Also any thoughts on whether a 1 mile drive to the garage is likely to kill the cat if there is a misfire?
It passed its MOT a couple of weeks ago so presumably no emission problems then.
Cheers for any help!
