:'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Post by 52nd of February »

Unfortunately, I am being forced to sell my beloved car in favour of a cheaper japanese one. :'(

I hoped this day would never come but I guess it had to happen one day, it's a euro and I'm a uni student.

But I've had an absolutely wonderful 2 years with it and consider myself extremely lucky to have ever had the opportunity to own it.

It will probably be a slow sale, everything seems to be these days but nonetheless, the end is nigh.

To anyone considering buying one of these - go for it. The only thing I hate about them is how hard it is to let them go!

Oh no! Sorry to hear this 52nd. I hope you will still visit the forum in any case. I would definitely use your latest photos in any ad for your car as they are sure to help it sell fast. Let us know how you get on with the sale.

I am having withdrawal symptoms already and I only put mine into hibernation for the Winter on Tuesday! :(

Yep, I'll stick around for a while, dw :)

I'll keep you informed - she's been live for a day and a half now, and already has 180 views!

It's a massive shame, because we are headed into the summer now and have been having beautiful spring days - and yet, I'm still not putting the roof down!!! On the verge of going fixed-roofed, and yet I'm STILL taking it for granted! SIgh

If you do get a cover don't get one from Argos! The one I got lasted one night and then it blew away! :x If you're concerned about the seals, get some silicone spray from Halfords http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165705 I find it stops the rubber seals getting sticky and helps prevent leaks.

Blew away :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Thank for the spray tip I might give it a try, my only worry is with ice and snow the seals will shrink and then expand when the sun comes out, I imagine this dosent help much with preventing leaks?
I dont know, just a guess, shall get the spray

Mine did one Winter out in the cold. The seals survived but they became "sticky" and the boot seal tore slightly when I opened the lid. I found the spray stopped the stickyness.

Sale going terribly - nothing is selling at the moment, it's a bad time for selling cars and houses so I'm thinking of taking it off actually

It's probably not meant to be, sounds like the car doesn't want to be sold!

I know what it's like to have to give up a treasured car - do everything you can to keep it!

(If it does happen though, I can recommend Japanese cars - my Mazda's were the best cars I've ever had, although the parts are expensive over here)
Now: Audi TT Mk1 1.8T quattro (225)
Then: Peugeot 206cc 2.0 (Black/Silver special edition)

Oh yes I'm definitely trying to keep it - my mechanic reckons that I should stick with what I have because other cars won't be much cheaper - he serviced a Ford Festiva for a mate and it cost him $600 to do!

I only have two opinions, one says sell and the other says selling is a mistake - aarrgghh!!!

I go with #2 but I'm biased!

We have 2 cars, the cc, and a boring practical car. The other half keeps saying we should sell them both and get one bigger cc but apart from not wanting to part with my beloved, I know we wouldn't get much for them both in PX and I would rather keep them both than sell to someone for a steal.

You were meant to have one 52nd. I hope you can keep it x

:) Thanks Thar! I thought I was the luckiest person in the world just to get one, now I'd be the happiest person in the world Just to be able to keep it! :P

Definitely keep your beloved :D The bigger CC's arent always that much bigger bootwise - ie, the Holden Astra TwinTop has the most uselessly shaped boot ever, and even less space under there with the rear shelf in place than what you currently have. In terms of back seats, yes, but I often drive with three in my car and no-one complains... Those bigger CC's don't have the same appeal in my opinion...

This reminds me of a good friend of mine who has owned a soft-top Audi TT for 10 years. He recently got a girlfriend with a young daughter, and when things started getting serious he decided to trade in the TT for a sensible family car. So 2 weeks ago, having spotted a Nissan Micra at a local garage, he set off there in his TT with a friend. At the moment he was due to sign away the TT, he realised he couldn't bear to part with it - so he now has 2 cars. He drove home in the TT and his friend followed in the new Micra! :D
