Hi all

I've had my CC about 3-4 weeks now, it has been backed to the dealer once just to have a couple of things done, nothing major.

But on picking the car I have seemed to have received 3 new rattles and a leaky roof for no extra cost.

Both front windows rattle when there in there most upright position, if I drop them a couple of mm the rattles disappear but then there is extra noise from outside.

I also have a major rattle coming from the rear passenger area around where the rear speaker is.

The roof does not seem to line up anymore, the rubber seal lines up perfectly on the passenger side where the roof seal meets the front windscreen seal but the drivers side is is out by a couple of mm which is now letting water in

I appreciate that with a soft/hard top car u are going to have a few minor rattles here or there, as I use to have an MGF a few years ago, but as bad as this?

Do all your CC's rattle and if so I will just have to live with it

No...no rattles at all. Sometimes a little bit of windrush from the drivers side window but that's it...And to think i was worried about getting a duff car cus i bought tax-free! Seems to be the luck of the draw as to whether you get rattles or not. Dodgy batch maybe?
ps I'm not gloating, just answering yr Q.

Mine's fine. Nary a leak nor a rattle.

They used to be big issues when this forum was first set up but they're rarely reported now.

No rattles just squeaks, which are sorted using lubricant

i think your rattle is what in earlier threads have been called squeaks. my cc has it and it bit of silicon spray does the job - for about 2 weeks - then the effect is gone.

give it a try and let us know...

On the topic of convertible rattles etc, can someone tell me what "scuttle shake" is? It's often mentioned in reviews of cabriolets(to varying degrees) and I've never owned a cab before.

Matt

The best explanation I have seen of scuttle was on Top gear.

They compared a car to a shoe box. A shoe box with a lid on makes shoe box very solid, it does not flex at all or very much, but if you remove the lid, the box will flex in many directions.

A soft top looses it rigidity because it has no roof, like the shoe box without the top on. When you drive a convertable as the car hits bumps in the road the car flex's and this can be usually seen and felt through the movement in the windscreen/pillars. Look at the vibritions in the rear view mirror.

Hope this does not confuse you any more.

PS Can we try to keep this post to rattles as the rattle in my CC are excessive and quite worrying (it sounds like it is falling apart). Sorry, I hope I have not offended.

PSS I would very much appreciate if as many people as possible can respond if they suffer from rattles or not.

roof rattled on 1st CC in rear corner on drivers side - they fixed it but it still rattled but not as bad.

my 1st CC leaked after i had it for about 3/4 weeks. it went in for repairs and came back with 3 new leaks to compliment the original one.

no success with 2nd attempt so car was rejected - i would suggest you do same.

derek

only rattle i've got is from a loose locking latch that i've asked my dealer 3 times to sort out but they couldn't be a***d/haven't got a clue/or forgot, pick one

the windows squeak a bit againest the rubber seals but a quick squirt of 'Autoglym rubber and vinyl care' on to a cloth then applied sorts them out

Sam,

This is a worrying trend. My CC is 7 weeks old and has a passenger windows rattle. It has been in 5 times and they have not fixed it yet.

Its going in next Wednesday for the last time before I reject the car.

My windows rattle but stop if I lower them a couple of mm... which i do and my Clifford alarm has an "auto up" feature so I don't have to remember to close them (good job too).

Rear speaker rattle - nope, new one to me

Roof - that seems bad mate. Pug should be able to sort the leaks OR ELSE...

Good luck. Pauline
