 Ok so I bought my 206 in march - 2nd hand - had quite a few owners - drove it around for about 1 week - then the rattling began.

The revs were increasing when the noise was present - almost a grating / burping / rattling noise. After about 10 mins of driving now the noise is terrible - very loud and really quite bad.

So took it to Kwick Fit and they said I need the whole the system replacing - the c.convertor, exhaust etc. However when I bought this car the guy had had the c.convertor replaced last year.

I am quite worried that in just over a year it already needs replacing? I shouldnt really even need replacing once really?

Would love to know if this spells for bigger, more integral problems? What else could be causing this reoccuring fault, and how easy, expensive would this be to fix?

It is a Y reg 2001 - 2.0lt 206cc.

No signs are coming up on the computer??? Due a service in 18k miles?

in the case of cat convertors you get what you pay for. cheap options spell pooorly made so almost garanteed to fail or break early. :(
