Welcome to the forum.
Have you checked the oil level by using the dipstick? If not, do so.
If the oil level is low, top it up, but don't exceed the max. mark. Do it on level ground.
How long and how many miles is it since the engine oil and filter were changed?
Was a genuine Peugeot oil filter fitted?
What oil are you using in it? Grade? Manufacturer? Fully synthetic? Should be Total Quartz 9000 5w-40.
You say it happens now and then... in what particular circumstances?
What car do you have?

Hi,
I've never heard of a 1.4 206cc. Are you sure it is not a hatchback?
You haven't answered many of my questions, but if you are changing the oil filter then change the oil for new at the same time. Use the correct oil for your engine, (check your handbook). I wouldn't normally change the filter without renewing the oil.

My car is doing exactly the same thing.
The OIL PRESSURE INSUFFICENT warning is flashing, but only happens when the car is started up and if paked for a while.
Otherwise, it drives prefectly.
The oil is OK and the car was serviced only a month or so ago.
I have been told that it could be the sensor or the oil button but the car needs to go on the diagnostics machine.

Was a genuine oil filter put on it at service time? What oil was used? I don't understand the term "oil button". Could be a sensor I suppose, or the pressure relief valve spring but I'd check that the correct oil and filter have been used first.
I went to my local Peugeot agent (Robins & Day, Leicester) a week ago to buy some 5w-40 Total Quartz 9000 Fully Synthetic oil and was told by the parts assistant that it was the wrong oil for the car. He even checked on his computer. I asked him what he recommended then and he said 10w-40 Semi-synthetic! I queried why he should be recommending an inferior oil when the service regime is 2 years/20,000 miles. He asked where I had it serviced last and when I said Robins & Day, Narborough he said they'll have used semi-synthetic. I pointed out what it said in the service book, bought the fully synthetic as the BOOK recommends and will always be doing my own servicing in future. I can't even trust the main dealer to get it right!

Chris, if you used the correct oil (see posts above) then buy a genuine oil filter from Peugeot and change the faulty one you appear to have fitted. Pointless ruining an engine for the sake of an £8 filter. If you didn't use the correct oil then change both again now using the correct items.

What can I say! - you hit the nail on the head - the "aftermarket" filter was partially collapsed once removed - now has a "genuine" filter installed and problem solved.
Lesson learnt - be careful on what you purchase in the aftermarket field - especially when it can have a detremental affect (or a possible extremely
expensive lesson)
thanks
