Hi Guys!
Im new to the forum and was wondering if you could help me...
The problem I have is that when i release the catches inside the car I dont get a beep...
I have read about the micro switch in the boot for the shelf and was wondering if this could be the problem?
It seems as though the car doesnt realise the catches have been released but there is no sensor on the catches so I'm a little confussed...Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Are you saying the roof doesn't work, or just that it is working without getting an audible signal when you release the catches?
I don't get a beep when I release the catches to prepare for opening the roof but I don't think it is supposed to beep at that point.
Welcome to the forum by the way.

Thanks for replying,
When we bought the car from a "friend" we were told the roof worked fine. The day we collected it there was a problem opening it but our "friend" did something and it worked...thought maybe a one off as he had said he hadnt had any problems before...
What happened when it was working was that when we released the two catches inside the was an audible "bong" when you pressed the botton the roof would go down and come back up with no problems...Then later that day when we tried to open it again...we released the catches and there was no "bong" and the button for the roof did nothing...
What I was wondering is, When you release these catches there has to be a sensor somewhere that detects they have been released, but I cannot see anything obvious...I havent really looked that well yet as the weather is cold and we dont need the top down but it is bothering me a little...
Also could this be related to the micro switch in the boot?...If I replace it is it a direct replacement or do I have to do something to "sync" it with the car?
Thanks in advance!

I have asked him and he says all he did was play with the shelf in the boot and open and close the clips inside a few times...from the testing last night I guess it has nothing to do with the boot sensor...
I can see from the repair guides that there is a sensor on each of the windscreen pillars...how do I access these so that I can test them?...Can they be accessed with the roof up?...My plan is to remove the plastic trim from the inside of the pillars tomorrow and see if I can find the sensors

Hi ........got a day off so had a good look for the problem before going to garage...............................
so happy with myself as problem was a micro switch on the passenger side pillar.
the actual bracket/clasp to receive the hook was loose........this meant the plate wasn't releasing but sticking on the fastening bar........the micro switch was therefore not allowed to work......
A quick tighten of the screw, a quick sqirt of WD40 had it releasing in nano seconds!
Thanks for all the help:love-thx:

Well done, glad you sorted it yourself. And thanks for feeding back.......it may well help someone else.
Did it take much dismantling or could you get to it easily with the roof up?
