just so that i don't complain about something that actually works can someone tell me the following ..........
when you open the door, does the aircon display become active ? e.g. as soon as i open the door, the display reads the aircon temperature and makes a slight irritating noise although the aircon doesn't operate.
i just don't remember that happening before my car went into the dealer (arnold clark) to create some new faults.
answer please ?
thanks
derek

Noise...my air con doesn't make any noise ever. From what i can remember the air con display only changes it's brightness when the lights are turned on.
Here's a thought
It could be accidentaly wired into the door warning light. This is possible. Try changing the setting on the main cabin light and then open the door. see if that changes it....

the display switches on as soon as i open the door and makes a slight noise although the air doesn't actually start flowing. my reason for asking if this happens with everyone else as i don't remember it happening until my dealer attempted to fix the immobiliser fault a few weeks ago - apart from the immobiliser still being faulty, the heated rear window, cig lighter, glove box light and interior light (except when door opens) no longer works.
thats what i call an excellent level of service from arnold clark edinburgh - NOT !

adrian,
thanx for your reply, i thought i was right - they knackered the aircon as well !!!!!!
when mines WAS working correctly, i found that it would go back to auto a/c and not eco if the car was left for a while, e.g. overnight. if it wasn't an excessive length of time, then it would still be in eco mode when switched back on.
i remember others said this happened with them as well - on the old forum.
hope this helps.

Thanks Derek,
From reading this forum over the last few months, I thought it normally set back to auto after the engine was turned off... except that mine often stayed on eco. The fact that it's a time dependent reset explains it.
Incidentally, when driving with the windows open (which I can't do until the window swith is fixed next week  ), should the auto mode be turned off?
