Hello,
This is my first post on the forum, I hope that you guys can help me out.
I have a very strange problem with my 206 (mk1 2001 1.4 Lx 3dr). I first noticed this issue on Saturday, on starting the car I noticed that my handbrake was very slack - no problem I thought, probably just the cable - so I went off on my journey. 100 yards down the road I noticed that the foot brake did not feel right, the brakes were very spongy and I had to depress the pedal right to the floor to get any real braking. After about 2miles I pulled up at the side of the road and gave someone a call to pick me up.
I managed to get back to the car yesterday to limp it back down the road to my local garage. It was in the same condition that I left it. When I got to the garage I reversed the car into a empty space. As I was doing this I heard a clunk and one or more of the wheels seemed to stick like they were going up a kerb. After this the handbrake was back to its normal tension and the foot brakes felt fine?!?
Thinking that it might be fixed, this morning I slowly drove to work. As I got further along the way the problem started to return. On arriving at work the problem was just as bad as before and I was really struggling to stop the car.
There is a dealer 2mins down the road, I'll take it in today. Does anyone have any idea what this could be??
Thanks for your help.
Jack.
