Hi All,

I am new to this but i wonder if anyone can help me identify whats wrong with my CC before i get it repaired and get ripped off.

Basically, i was driving the other day and i stopped at some lights and the engine cut out, i had the car in gear and i couldnt take it out of gear. I did a test to see if my clutch has gone but it hasnt????

Then, it happened again a day later, i was filling up and after it just randomly cut out?

Now it has stopped cutting out (touch wood) but when i drive the handbreak light flickers on and off, sometimes it stays on but when i seem to turn the wheel to the left it goes off?????????? :censored:

Does anyone have any suggestions? :D

Thank you,

Heather

Heather, welcome to the forum.
What year, engine size, model do you have? What mileage and when last serviced, by whom?

Handbrake light??? Do you mean brake light? If so check your hydraulic fluid reservoir for your brakes and clutch. The level may be low. If so you may have a leak. Leak from the reservoir have been known to drip onto the alternator (on 2 litre models) I believe. That can affect the electrics and ruin a perfectly good alternator.

Another reason for brake light flickering could be worn brake pads, turning wheel to left could relieve pressure on the sensor pad if it is only just touching. As it wears further it would stay on for good.

Either way this points need checking and soon, particularly if it is a fluid leak - that could turn out quite expensive.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi

We have a 1.4 206 with the dreaded engine cut out problem, missed out in the post above.

I have heard dealers are unable to fix this....

Have you found wether the handbrake light was caused by a brake fault? I would have thought it was a cable operated handbrake on this model? If the handbrake warning light is not caused to turn on by a brake fault then it is either the handbrake switch or the wiring to the switch. I have a suspition these problems could be linked.

If the wiring loom is rubbing on something and shorting out it would casue these symptoms.

Anyone have any ideas
