I just bought a 206cc SE picked it up yesterday I was sooo excited but I'm really worried now with everything I'm reading. Its a 52 plate and I'm told they have loads of problems!!

Anything I should look out for or any advise so I can keep it running smoothly for as long as poss! I think its the hottest looking little car around and I just dont want to be completely let down

Hi Mandy

I've recently bought a 52 plate 1.6 and yes, I've read all the other entries and initially it does seem a rather worrying prospect owning a 206cc.

I bought from a franchised dealership (Not Peugeot) and got a years warranty which is reassuring. In nearly a month of ownership I've had the exhaust system replaced (under warranty) and fixed a couple of problems myself,
wonky headlight bulbs and a leak throught the aerial fitting.

Everything else seems fine although the brakes are a little noisy and theres some window rattle so I just turn up the CD player!

The only real worry I have is the roof mechanism as problems can be expensive. I aim to treat the car with the utmost respect and follow the manufacturers instructions!

A big plus point is being involved with the 206cc Owners Club because if you've got a problem chances are someone will know the answer!

I am also fortunate that my 206cc is a second car and my wife and I will use it for recreational purposes and have a restricted mileage insurance policy of no more than 4000miles per annum so it isn't going to get a lot of use
so hopefully things won't fall off too quickly.

Enjoy the experience and try not to worry too much, you may well have a well behaved little Pug.
Keep us informed.

All the best

Rick

Hi Mandy,
Welcome to the forum, good to have you with us.
Let's hope you've got one of the good ones and that it has been looked after properly. If so you'll probably be OK. Just make sure you read the Owner's Manual and learn how to operate it properly - particularly the roof. Don't let anyone touch anything while the roof is going up or down, and only operate it with the engine running. A lot of problems are self-inflicted.
Enjoy your summer in your new car.
Regards, Ron

Thanks for the tips  I have had a wee look around the site and picked up on a few like leave the engine running when putting the roof up/down as like you Revclassic I'm a bit parranoid about that breaking and costing a fortune!!

Well I picked it up on Wed and it's back in the garage now, needs the hand brake tightened, I parked it out side my house (I live on a hill) and it almost rolled away :yikes: fright of my life!! The airbag light keeps coming on and the rev counters all cracked, making me think it's been in a crash, what you think? I got my friend who's a machanic to have a quick look at it and he said he can't see any signs of a crash so I'm probs just worrying too much. I got a 6 month warranty with the option to pay and get a life time warranty not sure about that yet need to suss out exactly what it covers.

I'm driving a little corsa at the moment and just can't wait to get my baby back! I sure do love her already!

Thanks again! :)

It has disc brakes all round and they are never as good as drums for parking brakes. I always leave mine in gear with the front wheels turned towards the kerb when parking on a hill. The airbag light could be the electic cable under the seat. If ours comes on I give it a waggle. I have a Corsa as well as the 206cc and it has been utterly reliable with 100k on the clock now. As you have found, the 206cc is a lovely little car though.
