Car overheating and engine fan not working - i think they ar

Hi all

im a new member so please dont bite, i have just this week got a 206cc 1.6 and all has been ok, until this morning and when i was in traffic my car overheated!!! the engine temperature went up to the red and then the coolant went up to the red,i pulled over, walked around the shops for a few hours, let it cool downand while worrying about it i thought to myself ive never heard the engine fan turn on!!! so i assume the fan isnt working, what can cause this? i looked in the engine fuses but the engine fan fuse isnt there as displayed in the users manual, possible below as it says it needs to be done by a delaer?

sorry if im a bit vague, any help you need to help me will be given asap.

Well any opinions/help will be much appreciated.

Should be a fuse and it will be related if your fan is not working then in the hot weather you my overheat i would get it checked asap or you can do some real damage .

ok so where is the fuse? i looked in the fuse box in the engine but its not there, is it below the usual fuse box?

If your handbook does not show one then prob there is not one it could be the temp sensor as its not cutting in try cleanning it or checking the connections on the fan .

Hi all

What year is your car Charl and dose it have air-con?

Because I'm having the same problem.

(2000 modle) so I have been working on mine for sometime so I know what to look at but I think its the controle unit on mine.

Well first check the fuses F21, MF13, F7 and MF2 found next to the battery, next lot find in the car F38, F37.

or F1, F8, MF01 and MF07 (found in fuse box next to bat. 2001+)

If they are ok then, all thats left are relays, sensors, the 300w fan and ECU to look at.

if you have air con,put it on. cooling fan will come on,pretty fast in this weather.
if it does come on you can eliminate a cooling fan fault and fuses .
if it doesnt,you need to take off the front grill and on the os youll see a cover with push in clips.take it off.
inside are 2 realys.unclip them and check the connetors and the wiring,they normaly badly corrode and the wiring rots away. 90%the time this is the fault.

other than that,make sure you have water in the car etc etc. :0
