Thought I would come and introduce myself as I am currently in the process of buying a 206cc... Apart from I have scanned through the forums and I have seen nothing but probelms and negativity... which is slightly unnerving!
Basically I need some reassurance that a 206 is a decent car overall. Please bear in mind I am comparing this to a MINI (I'm not sure what effect that will have... )
I just don't want to be let down by them so if anyone has any suggestions or anything nice to say about the Peugeots then please let me know!

Hi Katie and welcome to the forum.
I've never had a new type MINI so I can't compare. What I do know is that we've had our 1.6 Allure for over 2 years now and never had a problem. I think most problems that owners have, particularly on the newer cars, tend to be self-inflicted by not reading the owner's manual thoroughly to see how the car should be operated. We've owned about 8 Peugeots over the years and our 206cc is the best yet!

I should hopefully be picking one up tomorrow. It is a 1.6 as that is all I really need. I am going to say electric blue (aegan) half leather interior, full Peugeot service history. Just had a new cambelt, clutch and gearbox. A little old lady owns it and she has decided to change it as the car has got a few miles (even though peugeot said it was not necessary). Garage kept, she has had it from new. She regularly has the roof checked and microswitches changed. So it has got 80k miles but it is by far the cleanest I have seen.
I am extremely excited and I can't wait! Also do you find it a squeeze getting 4 people in??
Hello again Katie,
Hmmm, sounds a bit long in the tooth. Still with a new cambelt and transmission hopefully you'll be ok. I'd make sure brake fluid has been changed recently, and the coolant too. Head gaskets can go on older, high mileage cars, whether they're clean or not.
I wonder what the little old lady is buying as a replacement.
We never use our rear seats for carrying people - we're not that cruel!
Good luck with that car.
