Hi everyone,

am a new owner and hope someone can help! I've just bought a second hand Peugeot which is a Y reg and there's a weird 'sloshing' water noise in the right hand side of the car....

can't really figure out what it is. It doesn't seem to be causing too much problems (yet), but was just wondering if this was something that anyone else has come across?

thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum.
From your description it sounds as if you may have some air in your cooling system. Probably won't cause you a problem but if you can bleed it out at the highest point that would probably get rid of the noise.
I had this with our Corsa a few weeks ago. I didn't bleed it out but the noise stopped after a while and on my regular check of fluid levels I found the coolant needed about 1/2 a pint of antifreeze mixture to bring it up to the correct level. I assume the air (if that's what it was) found its own way out on a long hot motorway run because the temperature gauge went up higher than usual. It was after that that I checked the coolant fluid level. I'm keeping a wary eye on both the gauge and the level just in case it is anything more sinister.
I suggest you do the same. Don't let it overheat.

Hi,
Just a follow up. The noise came back on my Corsa so I bled the air out of the highest point in the cooling system, topped up coolant again and the noise has gone again. Fingers crossed...watch this space.
