I have been looking at replacing my exhaust which has started blowing. I don't think I'm the only one who has experienced this am I?
Anyway, a replacement (not including the cat) has been quoted between £700 and £550 using genuine parts. A pattern replacement has been quoted at £290 - but told this is not as good as the original. All prices include fitting + VAT. As far as I'm concerned - the original hasn't lasted that long. Am I wrong?
If I look at Magnex, for example, a full system (not including the cat) is £320 and has a lifetime guarantee. So this looks good. I've read about Devil and Lifelong exhausts as well - as being longer lasting than standard and of very good quality. A replacement cat is about £80 + VAT. So replacing the whole things will still save me money.
The garage mechanic said a lot of the after market exhausts are not as good as the originals. In the motorbike world, this is not always the case. But, you often need to set the engine to match the exhaust? Is this the case for after market exhausts for the CC?
I am not a MaxPower type of chap, so I want to keep the noise down to a minimum. I'm not bothered about power either (well, its not a priority) - just something that will last longer. [Hence this post is not in the tuning section]
Anyone with good or bad experiences in the area. Any other good makes, manufactures or retailers to recommend? Any long term results on after market exhausts? Anyone with a Magnex?
Sorry in advance in bringing the exhaust subject up again.
Exhaust: put, put, put... PUT, PUT, PUT. There she blows!
