Hi
Just wanting hear your (honest) opinions about your 206cc's.
I have a mini cooper at the moment, share it with my hubby, love it to pieces but I'm thinking about getting a second car. I owned a TF a few years ago, and really miss having a convertible so im thinking about getting a convertible. I would ideally buy a mini convertible, but as they are so new they are too much.I've always liked the 206cc, but ive heard bad things about their build quality - someone i know has had nothing but problems. I'm torn between a 206cc and a tigra, the 206 having 4 seats is a big plus, but I would be getting an older one (02 or 03) and don't want to have nothing but problems. If you could share your experiences it would be very much appreciated! Its a gorgeous car!

Hi there! I have had my 206cc for nearly a year - it's a 1.6 litre late 51 reg model. So far (touch wood) had no trouble with it at all other than a puncture (something that could have happened with any car!) I bought it from a Peugeot main dealer who had just serviced and MOT'd it and it was a very clean one owner car with 37,000 miles on the clock. I am very pleased with it and would definitely recommend one. But there do seem to be "rogue cars" that have lots of problems. Generally the 1.6 litre ones seem to be more trouble free than the 2 litre.
Best of luck with finding a car!

Welcome to the forum Nicole. What's your budget? Are you fussy about colour? Let's see if we can find you a good 'un. We went for a 1.6 and have not been disappointed. Nothing has gone wrong with ours so far, but its 3rd birthday isn't until next Monday.

I had an 04 1.6 for two years that never went wrong... I think it's worth getting the newest model you can find as opposed to mileage.
I saw one of those Tigras not long ago. The poor guy was waiting at the lights with the broken roof stuck halfway up with a bit of a red face... and that was a cold day too
Hi!
thanks do much for all your advice! Ive deceided to go for a 1.6 51 plate silver with 50k miles on the clock, but when I go to view it, i want to make sure i check everything that might go wrong (hopefully) wont! the bumpers and side strips and wing mirrors have been sprayed, its quite a looker!Ive read that the 'tappets' are pricey so ill check that! If you could let me know any pricey repairs so I can check, its from a trader so will be mot'd for when I get it which is always good! Sooo excited, ive wanted one since they came out! a rag top was never the same! Heehee about the poor tigra, poor guy!

I've not heard of a 1.6 having problems with tappets. The car is nearly 7 years old so check that the cambelt has been renewed (or budget for having it done soon - quite expensive!). Peugeot recommend every 80,000 miles but lots of 7 year old cars will have done that.

Good to hear regarding the tappets!! Soo glad chose the 1.6! I'll look out for what you said, thanks a million! hopefully it will be a good one! If the previous owner took time to paint the bumpers, wing mirrors, i'm hoping they took good care of the car in general! still excited!
Its strange Im selling my 206cc for a cooper s. But that was a very hard decision to make and one I hope not to regret.
I own a 2.0 litre 2001 model 206 ccSE (which is considered the delux model) and I have never experienced any major problems or faults. It is a truely fantastic car and a real head turner. To be honest though it does have four seats they are more realistically considered a 2+2 as the rear seats can barely sit an adult comfortably.
I have been a cc owner for 7 years and if I had to recommend a version I would say the 2.0 is a better buy; as due to the roof it is a heavy car so a 1.6 is sluggish. Also it was a re-nowned problem for the 1.6 in the early days to have clutch issues. The early (believe before the 02) cars are pre multiplex wiring which is where it has normal wiring so easier to maintain and tweak.
I have a blue cc for sale so if your interested let me know; otherwise happy searching.
One other pointer for anyone wishing to buy a cc As I have noticed some adverts where they dont specify the engine size are trying to give the impression of a 2.0 but its actually a 1.6. The 2.0 comes with:-
* Climate control air con where you will see the digital display on the dash instead of the manual dials of the air con in a 1.6.
* The 2.0 exhaust is oval, where the 1.6 is round.
* Front bumper is slightly larger and therefore the stainless mesh grille can be fitted.

Hi everyone ,
Finally done it! I've bought a 51 plate 1.6 cc (its an s) in silver, pick it up end of next week! Not leather seats, but i've had leather in my old car, novelty wore off so not really bothered. Test drove it, everything seems to be ok! Emma, thanks for the information, I'll definitely check the clutch when I go to pick the car up, the sluggishness doesn't bother me tho I'm not a fast driver, more of a poser You will love the mini, I will still drive our one but always wanted wanted a cc! The mini is a lovely car to drive, the cooper s will be quite nippy I would imagine! Can't wait to pick up my car, hope its a nice day so I can have the roof down! Ive decided i'm going to put the face lift model lights on the tail lights, i think the front lights look the same as the face lift? if not ill change them too probs
x
Woohoo on your purchase, I sold mine today so the mini looks certain thanks for the kind words! though suppose my major reluctance is the cc is such a car which is admired so got used to the attention just assume the mini is kinda anonomus!?
I mentioned the clutch but to be honest the majority of these faults were corrected in the warranty.

Aww, im sure the mini will put a smile on your face! They are common, but you can put stripes on them and stuff which ours has, and they certainly don't blend in! what colour you getting? the dark grey is nice, or the electric blue which is what we have. they are less common colours, i also like black.
Picking it up on saturday, i want it now tho! I dont think mine had the trip, mpg etc computer, is there any way i could fit it? i'm clueless but the computer (esp the range left) is soo useful!
