Exhaust: how long do they last?

I've done 40 months with my original one (80.000 kilometers) and 28 months with my 2nd one from Kwikfit (65.000 kilometres).

Are those normal values for exhausts?

My 1st lasted about 4 years and 25K miles and my 2nd is still going ok after 3 years 20K miles. Touch wood.

My 2nd exhaust was a moddified GTI version that was welded in post cat and cost me just over Â£300. The one crap thing I have found on my cc is the exhaust. I really expected it to last longer.

well, I just had my 3d one installed (original from Peugot of course and the 2 replacements from Kwikfit).
But the first two did together about 92.000 miles in 6 years. I've done better with my previous cars indeed.

Our 1.6 Allure is on its original one. The car is just 3 years old and has done only 13,500 miles.

My Merc is on its original exhaust too. It is 14 years old and has done 112,000 miles.

That did very well Emma. How much did the replacement cost and where from? Main dealer or exhaust specialist?

Exhaust specialist in Hertfordshire (Mr Unique)

Quoted Â£200 but got it for Â£150

I am incredibly fussy as to where I take my car, they have to cover everything, clean their hands (hate greasey hand marks etc I have pale keyring as a test to the dirty hands) and I usually threaten them with 'look after him and I know every area of paintwork on that car'!. Possessive mum

Replaced mine a couple of months back. Original lasted 3Â½ years and 13,000miles.

Depends on what mileage you do and if you do short/medium or long journeys. If you plan to have the car a while I would suggest a stainless steel cat back and suggest it isnt too loud or not very loud at all. Looking at the Â£250 mark for a stainless one and it doesnt rot out so quickly, if you keep your old one you can put the stainless one on Ebay after you are done with it and get some money back!!! you win all round

I do 2 x 5 miles a day and pop to the shops occasionally so stainless steel the way forward?

Kwik Fit £185 but maybe lifetime guarantee stainless steel the way forward as will be keeping this car another 5 years?

Live in South Leicestershire so can anyone help with recommendations?
