I know there are various threads on this already but can anyone give me some advice.

Had to have new front section of exhaust (inc cat) for MOT. Driving away from garage (not Peugeot dealer) and the engine warning light comes on with an anti-pollution fault.

Took it back to the garage who have fitted a different exhaust and a new rear sensor -an hour later same problem.

Autoquip who supplied te garage with the 2nd exhaust assured them that it was 206cc compliant and would not trip the computer.

Peugeot dealer wants over £500 + fitting for an exhaust which seems very excesive.

The car is an 02 plate 206cc SE with 55,000 miles.

Can anyone suggest anything to try and sort the problem?

You have probably read this thread
http://www.peugeot206cc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?id=10401

Try switching on your ignition, let the diagnostic procedure go right through its routine until the mileage shows again on your dash, then start the car.
Don't use supermarket petrol in it, perhaps you aren't anyway...
Maybe the cat needs replacing.
I think you need to get it on a diagnostic machine to identify the fault, otherwise you could be spending money unnecessarily.

If the fault warning wasn't showing before you had the exhaust replaced then I would expect Autoquip to put it right.

Let us know the result, and Good Luck!

Was on my way to take it back to the garage for a 4th time and the light went off and hasn't come back on again since

The garage were going to use my original Peugeot cat (the corroded part was further back) and weld a new mid-section on to solve the problem. I will save the original cat just in case.

Thanks for reporting back the outcome Steve. Let's hope you have no further problems now.

Good idea to keep the original. Maybe the car has settled down after the ecu adjusted to the non-standard cat. Cars! They get more and more like computers don't they?
