Removing Passenger seat

Hi, I need to remove my passenger seat as a bolt has gone and it rocks about, but was wondering how I went about disabling the side airbag as I don't want it to go off. is it just a case of unplugging the wire under the chair, and if so, if i then start car without it plugged in will it cause problems? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

disconnect battery for 5 mins,safe to unplug then,if you start car with airbag disconected,will bring an airbag fault up on the display.

glad u mentioned the airbags on the seats. ive just bought a complete leather interior for my pug and would have just undone the bolts and whipped them out. wouldnt have thought of having to unplug airbags.

thinking about it, perhaps I'd better get my local mechanic/garage to do it! heh heh.
