hi my names patrick and me and the good lady are picking up a 2003/03 black 206cc se in black on thurs.

a couple of quick questions that id like to ask,

1, i have the reg no and chassis no and tried to find out via a couple of peugeot garages yesterday when the cam belt was due. some say 72,000 miles some say 80,000 miles depending on what engine.
so i asked what 2.0 engine mine had(surely be able to tell me via the number plate and chassis no??)
none of them could ,some even said the car was prob a import as they had no record of it,could this be the case?? if so should i be haggiling on the price??i ride motorcycles aswell and i know thats the case with bikes ,imports should be cheaper, but im not sure with cars??anyone??
2, the dealer only has one key,is it hard/expensive to get another one??
2, does se stand for sport edition??

any other tips/things to look for etc before i hand over my cash on thurs?
many thanks:love-thx:
pat.

Hi I have had my 2066 cc 2.0se for a week now and have to say the more I drive the more I love her! I put a pic on the gallery of her.

I only got one key with mine and it states in the book to make sure you get a confidential key card when you by one second second hand! I did not get one with mine so would be intrested in the replies you get, but ask your dealer if he has it.

Hope all goes well and you have many miles of cruising in the sunshine with the roof down!

I wouldn't buy the car with only one key, nor without the confidential key card mentioned by WD40. I certainly wouldn't be handing over ANY cash without them on Thursday.
I understand that the 1.6 16v cambelt is due for change every 80,000 miles. I don't have the information on the 2.0 engine.
Imports should be cheaper, yes. But the difference dwindles the older the car.
I'd put the ball back in the dealer's court and tell him I will only buy and pay for the car when it comes with both keys, and, if missing, the confidential key card.
Why put yourself to all the trouble? There are plenty about!

Did you pick up your 206cc (if so did you find out about getting spare key?) or did you opt for a different one?

yep picked it up yesterday about midday.
love it so far.
the key issue has hopefully been sorted.the garage got hold of the last owner who has a spare key and is going to forward it on(hopefully)-if not i have kept one or 2 things from my old car which they wont get .:)

passed its mot no probs with just 1 advisory which was brake pads and discs(so they had new ones put on!!-lovely.
fully serviced, taxed for 6 months.so so far so good(but ive only owned it for 24 hrs)

it does look like ive been rallying in it already though...the joys of a black car.
apart from that its just getting used to all the litttle gizmos and switches.
and the windscreen wipers going the other way:lol2:

looked on ebay regarding the key issue if it all falls through
you can get them for peanuts with the remote and a blank ready to be cut.

can you get these cut at any key place???
if so ,and it goes belly up .i might do that,as for the reprogramming it looks really easy in the owners handbook??

Let me know how it goes!

I have conacted my Pug dealer and all you need is Chassis num and they can get card number.

To obtain the card number cost £18.00

To have a norm blank key without buttons cost £18.00

To get key programmed to the car costs another £18.00!

Or for a buttoned key it is £66 instead of £18, so doubles the price!

All bit confussing for me! I think £54.00 is not too bad and I may just get the plain key as a spare!

Thanks for that info WD40.

As I implied, it just adds to the cost and the hassle when the selling dealer should have done it for you before you accept the car.

Still, I do appreciate that some people will put up with some aggravation if they are getting a car for a very cheap price.

I took a chance a couple of years ago and bought a car off eBay for £82. The person selling it wanted rid as he had no space for it, and after a couple of days working on it I had a reliable car. Ran it for 6 months then sold it for £300. So it can be worth it. But for a newer car, with the potential pitfalls of a 206cc I don't think I'd do it. Better to find as near to perfect as possible and haggle down the price.

u wont be able to programme it yourself, needs to be set to the bsi imobiliser, will need transponder number,we get gharged 15 +vat and key learning takes bout half hr so £30.
handbook only shows you how to SYNC your key for the central locking, and it wont do that till the key is learnt to car. :)
