Hello
My friend has a 206cc and had all the roof seals replaced by her local Peugot garage at a cost of 500 pounds, in October 2006 (so they are a year and 2 months old), and they have already started leaking water in.. Apparently they have weathered.
Is this usual, and should these parts have any guarentee or warrenty? Surely Peugeot should expect their seals to last longer than a year, otherwise are you all expected to fork out 500 pounds each year to stop your seats getting wet???
Any help much appreciated!
How long would you expect new roof seals to last??

Oh dear sounds as if something is amiss. I'd expect them to last longer than that, and I suppose the replacements would only be guaranteed for 12 months max.
Our car is 3 years old with no leaks at all but it is garaged to protect it from the elements. Some people say that using silicon grease on the seals helps but I have never tried that.
I certainly wouldn't be happy about paying £500 every year for new seals.

I have had my car for nearly seven years and the roof is up and down like a whores draws. It has never leaked and never had the seals replaced. It must be the fitment of the seals or something in the mechanism has moved or moving adversely. I can’t see the seals being an issue unless there is a visible sign of an issue.
Where is it leaking?

I've had my cc for 8 months. Sadly it is now leaking. Badly. I have been to Peugeot who advise its £500 to replace the seals. This is extortionate and so far am making do with a bin bag on the seat - not the glamourous look I was going for!!! I am going to seek a convertable speacialist and see if I can get it cheaper. VERY annoying. I love the car, but do not love the fact that I am getting soaked. If anyone has any tips to do a temporary repair themselves then please please let us know!! Maybe a bit of blutak in the seal? Gaffer tape? yes am getting desperate.......

It depends where it is leaking, but I still can not see how seals "go" unless they are splitt. I still think its more likely that the roof has moved or a door/ door window needs adjusting. If its leaking in the joins I have heard of people using petrolium jelly to seal gaps between seals on convertibles. Plus why do all the seals need replacing? If its leaking from the very top on to a seat then surly its only one piece that would need replacing.
