Hi All,

Conmatic's CMC40 and CMC40WinD, as offered by Pugmatic in the UK, are now available in Australia and New Zealand through me.

I have installed a CMC40WinD in my own car (a 2.0L MY04) and am pleased to report that installation took me 5 mins and the device works perfectly.

I can now raise or lower the roof with one single flick of the button AND I can do this whilst driving at speeds of up to 40km/h !

Also, I can now raise or lower ALL of the windows with one flick of one button !

No more pulling out of peak hour traffic into a side street for me ! I can put the roof up or down and still keep up with traffic ! (You can't do that in a Mercedes or BMW convertible !)

Write me if you'd like to know more or see a demonstration (in Sydney).

Cheers,
Michael

Hi guys,

I look forward to showing off on Sunday ! 8)

I was going to surprise you with it, but I couldn't keep it secret in the end.

Both units enable you to raise or lower the roof with a single flick of the switch - no more holding the roof button for the duration of the cycle AND you can do this whilst travelling at speeds of up to 40km/h !

In addition to this, the CMC40WinD also enables one touch operation of ALL the windows, including the ability to lower the windows, drop the roof and raise the windows again - all with a single flick of the switch.

After work last week, I drove past a group of Mercedes Benz salesmen outside a city dealership and have to say their combined reaction was priceless when they saw my car go past with the roof going down at the same time ! You can't do that in an SL or SLK !

The introductory prices are $289 for the CMC40 and $489 for the CMC40WinD. These prices include GST. It's the best I can do given the state of the nation with our Aussie dollar. (Speaking of which, does anybody know why we've dropped against the EURO recently ? And is it going to get any worse ?)

Cheers,
Michael

hmmmmmmmmmmmm that's a bit expensive. If I was to get one it would be the WinD version which is more than 50% of the cost to get Eibach springs and lowering the rear torsion bar.

Sounds excellent though operating the roof at up to 40km/h!! Sure handy when it suddenly starts raining cats and dogs!!!!

It isn't really that much when you consider the price includes 10% GST, bank to bank transfer fees and the cost of freight from Europe to Australia within 7-14 days.

And the devices gives rise to a whole new level of freedom. It's a peace of mind thing. I seem to get more use out of having a convertible as now I have the roof down right up until the first little sprinkles of rain whereas before, I would leave the roof up if I thought it would rain at all, and of course, as Murphy would have it, nine times out of ten it wouldn't rain if I'd taken this precaution !

I've only had my car for 7 weeks, but I had already become nervous at the prospect of having to put the roof up or down during my 60min peak hour traffic trip into the city of a morning. I only did it a couple of times and that was enough for me. The people behind me always got antsy because other people started cutting in in front of me whilst I was stopped. In the end, I was pulling into side streets just to let the roof do its thing. This gave me another hassle of having to re-join traffic ! Who would believe life in a convertible could be so tough ???

By the way, I've noticed peak hour traffic hardly ever gets above 40km/h so I can pretty much operate the roof any time now. (In fact, my average speed getting in and around Sydney per tank of fuel seems to hover around the 31km/h mark - what do you guys get ?).

The only things I still want to get for my car now are the quick-shift, a K&N filter panel and a sub. (I can't lower it as the front already scrapes the garage floor depending on what angle I take.)

Cheers,
Michael

Don't get me wrong, I agree it's a great feature!!

As for the average speed, it takes idling time into the calculation, ie when you're stitting still in rush hour traffic, or in my case, when i'm warming up the car each morning in the driveway.

No worries.

Do you warm you car up ??? I didn't think you had to do that anymore.

I start the engine and I'm straight up the driveway like the proverbial bat out of hell immediately ! That's why I had to have this device. The more things I can do at the same time - the better !
Cheers,
Michael
