The car goes in tomorrow (Wednesday 27/8) for new suspension legs.
The Service history so I am told has now left Peugeot and been sent to another garage for update.
Hoping it will arrive within the next week or they better have the cheque book ready for £700

Interesting to read this developing saga.
What MPG are you getting Rick? What fuel do you use?

Hi Ron

Hopefully, S/H matter should be resolved by the end of the month now. It's either S/book fully stamped of the cheque for £700. Let's see what happens.

46mpg recently on a run, getting 28-35 locally. Must be my wife's soft touch!

Just got back this afternoon from Brands Hatch, MG Car Club racing, (Spectating). Aarh, the smell of the rubber!

Well, it's been a little while since I put finger to keyboard.

Service history update. Following my letter asking for money, suddenly in a short space of time, the Service history appears! Funny that!

Most of the info has been handwritten. My garage managed to salvage info from different sources as servicing agents had come and gone, PUG UK had some info so at least I've got something although no stamps in the service book. I think I've been ever so slightly stitched up. never mind.

Car is still running well although brake squeal is annoying. Several attempts to resolve myself but I think we'll book it in for the garage to inspect. Do I sense a certain amount of quivering from the warranty company?

206cc Update.

Not wishing to temp fate but our pride & joy is behaving itself. Looking forward to those suny days for wind in the scalp motoring, well for me anyway as my wife has a full head of hair. It's all hers, she showed me the receipt for it
earlier.

MoT due in May plus insurance. Being just very slightly over 50 I can now benefit from insuring through SAGA.
Our daily drive, the VW Polo is insured with them and they've offered a second car (206cc) for £160 full comp!!

Also in the household is my 64' MGB roadster which came close to being sold but have decided to keep her as an investment. Let's face it, if I sold her I'd only end up spending the money of trivial items...

3 car family and 2 of them drop-tops! How lucky can you be. Enjoy the good weather.

The MoT day arrived and she passed with only one advisory note. Slight play from offside trackrod control arm.
However, what they didn't spot was the front offside brake disc (inward facing) was disintigrating. This was discovered a few days afterwards when the car went in for a couple of door check straps. Oooh Erh.
There will be a bill for around £200 coming soon.

I too have squeely brakes, particularly when you first put your foot down! I plan to get a look whe I take the wheels of to do the red caliper paint thingy (I have loads of paint from when I did my previous cars calipers). As I have the black and red leather model, I think will look pretty cool! I also would like to update my wheels as they are pretty kerbed, but as I'm just moving house - will have to wait .
I also have a rattly passenger light unit which is worse when the roof is down - how easy is it to pop out the housing and what would you suggest to dampen the rattle?
Thanks

Haven't been on the forum for yonks so thought I'd update on recent happenings.

Well, the cc is running nicely with no major issues. Some wally walked into the drivers door mirror (I assume) and broke the darn thing. Have carried out a repair with the aid of superglue. It's fine at present.

I did the brake discs myself and replaced the pads. Apart from graized knuckles all went well and saved some money!

My eldest son has now decided to buy a BMW 320Ci Cabrio so we now have three drop-tops in the family!

Looking forward to a long hot summer now.

cheers for now
Rick

Oops, meant to tell you that the squeeky brakes no longer squeek since discs and pads fitted.

Hi Rick, I'm new to the site and just read your "challenging adventures" with your 206cc. I hope your problems aren't that common as my wife and I have just recently bought our first drop top, a 54 plate 1.6 s in dark blue with a 3 month warranty.
Ours was advertised, through an independant garage, as having service history, but they couldn't find the service book either. After a couple of weeks a new one from peugeot arrived in the post, via the selling dealership, with 3 stamps in dated from 2007 (22,000 miles). Slightly worryingly, there's no stamps previous to that.
Our car, touchwood seems to be trouble free at the mo. except for an annoying rattle from rear nearside seat/roof area, which wasn't there when we got the car.
Contemplating buying a space saver spare wheel, as I don't like the idea of tyre weld stuff.

Paul (Cumbria).

Hi Paul, good to hear from you. Sorry to hear you've had a similar problem re the service history.

Not quite sure what that rattle is, but I'm sure one of the gang on the forum will have a few ideas. Our 206cc has a few miles more on the clock than yours, 66,000 to be precise and it's had a number of previous owners. I would expect yours to be better behaved!

I must admit your idea of getting a space saver is a very good idea. Suggest you try a breakers yard or ebay to get a good deal. Peugeot Dealers I'm sure will demand interesting prices!

Anyway, enjoy your 206cc, they're great fun especially when the sun comes out and hope you get that rattle dealt with. Alternatively turn the CD player up!

I'm about to negotiate the replacement of the nearside CV rubber boot. Pity I didn't notice it when I did the discs and pads, would have saved a bit of time.

Cheers for now

Rick
