Water Sports!?!

After a harsh letter to Peugeot and my dealer about their inability to fix my leak they've managed to come up with another cure. This has apparently come from the master technician as a result of training he's just had (sure I've heard that before on here). At least it involves trying something they haven't tried before

Just hope it works this time, my patience has worn so thin!!

the water leak i had around the driver release catch is strange. i got the car washed at a place today where they use high pressure hoses and no water came in around there. there were actually only a few very small splashes of water that did get it.

when i washed it this way a few days after getting it, there were a few drips and i had decided to wash it by hand only in future - but when the car was beginning to look more like black than silver today i decided to just use the car wash instead

It was my 206CC that has had the same "cure" applied as Rachel - I had the work done last week and I am just waiting for some rain in Manchester (how often have you heard that???) to see if it has worked.

No rain in Manchester?! That's the worst thing about leaks, you're told its fixed and then have to wait for the weather to turn before you know if it really is fixed or not.

Must be the only time us CC owners do want rain

PS Think my cure may be different nx, my dealer said it involved removing some foam and filling with sealant! Anyway, we can see if either your car or mine is leak free soon. Let me know!

woops... look like im a member in the watersport club.... had my car washed for the first time today, used high pressure hoses and it looked dry inside when i started up... but after driwing a few meters and a touch on the brake the water came in where the roof releas handle is at the passenger place and somwhere back.. the backseat behind the passenger seat became wet.. it wasnt that much but it was irritating.. not worse then it was easy to dry up with some paper.
Is that the leaks you are talking abut or is it a waterfall inside when its raining???
Dont know what to do... do i deliver the car to the dealer to fix it or is this acceptable for a cab?? is wasnt much water which came in..

Bergen, my leaks are in exactly the same place but on both the passenger and the driver's side. I think the seals above the window are "U" shaped in profile and so effectively they are hollow with open ends. As a result they fill with water and when you drive off the water runs out of one end or the other.

Still waiting for rain in Manchester to test out the fix - if it doesn't come soon they will probably impose a hosepipe ban.

Hi everyone,

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with a leaky roof!! I took my car in to get the leak fixed before christmas and a month later I had heard nothing.

Went out to my local dealer a few days ago to ask whats going on, and the new seal they ordered a month ago still hadn't arrived!! I just took my car home, and just waiting for the part to arrive, which hopefully will be this year, but i'm not holding my breath!

Would you believe it, all the time the car was with my dealer, no rain. The minute I drive it out, constant rain!!! TYPICAL.....

Think I might start my own aquarium in the back of my car... (just to be different), any one got any fish they could lend me??

stick some staff from your dealer in the aquarium - maybe they would drown with any luck.

The sealant cure DOES NOT WORK

I had this done on my car in July with new seals and again in October/November again with more new seals. It is actually worse that before they used sealant.

Oh one last thing, the sealant smells really bad and I still cant get rid of the smell after all this time.

Jet washed the car at weekend and whatever they have done to the seals (see earlier posts) appears to have worked - not one single leak. Fingers crossed that this is the last of my leaks probs.

Can you tell me exactly what they did to cure your problem? Mine's going in on Wednesday and I don't want them trying a smelly sealant theory that doesn't work if there's a non smelly alternate cure that does work!

Thanks for the advice, Rob, if they make the car smell its just another point on my list of reasons why they should replace the car!

Get it in writing first before they try any cures that they will not use any smelly substances that will overpower the new smell of the car.

I'll add it to the list I'm leaving them with. I'd also like to be able to shut the passenger door without having to slam it. Not been the same since they adjusted the roof and doors in the last attempt to eradicate the leak.

The service manager said it was something the senior techhy had learnt on a Peugeot course before Christmas. He didn't go into much detail but said that the seals above the doors need to be hollow to function correctly with the frameless doors/windows - which I guess makes sense, but they could seal them at the ends to stop the water leaking out. I don't know whether this means that the water stays in the hollow seals, but as I said the leaks in the front where the roof catches are appear to be okay as do the ones on the back where the roof panel meets the back window. He also said something about stiffening the seal above the rear screen by threading a hollow rubber tube through it but I opened the roof halfway and checked and there doesn't appear to be anything in it?

Good luck - for what it is worth my fix was done by Elton Garages, Bury, Lancs (thanks guys) - part of the RRG Group.

He said that the new seals they had ordered for me would still arrive at some point but there was no point in fitting them if this fix worked.

We've still not had any serious rain but the jet wash should be as good a test as any - if the leaks return I will let you know.
