I had the same thing a few weeks ago.

Car stalled out, cat convertor fault.
Managed to start it after a while, but called the garage, who said call Peugeot Assistance.
The guy came out, and by then the car was starting with Anti-Pollution messages.

I said I'd washed the car the day before (it was late in the afternoon), and he opened the bonnet, and showed me the computer, and the drain for the water from the windscreen. He said the water is prone to overflow the lip, and get onto the computer (the black box on the left hand side with grey plastic clips on).
He sprayed the computer with WD40 and then said to go to the garage to clear the permanently on yellow engine management light (needs to be cleared after a fault).
He said it was quite common on the 206's that water gets on the computer and causes the engine to run badly and the fault.

Craig,

Thanks for this posting - exactly the same has happened to me after washing my car this week. (engine splutter / cat fault / antipol fault) I think I will mod the rain channel with some rubber edge trim.

I have booked it in to clear the engine fault light, but coming in to work today the light has cleared itself!

Cheers
