Didnt look at any dials other than the rev counter and the speedo.
The whole point of the exercise was to see how low i could get the mpg reading, then i decided to redline it in 5th
Wont be doing it again though - i was quite happy at 130 but wouldnt wanna crash at tha speed, nor would i wanna get 'spotted' by the old bill. I tend to be a good boy and stick to <95

I think you will find the new 2002/3 models are now different. 2.0i is definitely wider by some noticable amount when I looked at them all along side each other recently. The pre-2002 or early 2002 cars probably were the same. The Gti has also been widened recently when the revised suspension was introduced in 2002.

Well maybe you need to tell Peugeot about this, because they dont know about it yet.
Maybe you were looking at two different colour cc's and that's why they looked different sizes

Maybe I should, as they don't seem to know much about their cars in general anyway! They know nothing much about the newish multiplex wiring either. There have been a few road tests and articles in magazines about the revised suspension and wider track on the 2.0i cars. It all came about when they were designing the SW range.
BTW, all the cars (10 in total - 5 of each CC) were in Aluminium

Yea ive hurd of bad faults in the rear suspension...
My mate lost it at 90 aswell, in a 206, back end goin everywhere and wrote the thing off
i would lower my CC and go GTi spec on the rear like darth bourj was sayin that sounds like it would improve it a lot, but the thing is i dont know how this would affect the insurance and warrantly and so have never really thought about it seriously...?

If you want to go GTi spec on the rear just get the torsion bars from an SW model. They are thicker than the GTi but not as thick as a 180 i think.
I might do this when i put my Eibachs on the car.
Uprating the front suspension without increasing the rear spring rate will just make the car want to understeer.
To balance the increased spring rate at the front i might get the thicker torsion bars. Might even see if there are any straight SW back axles available as it has the added links that the GTi 180 benefits from.
