HELP me for a change

I have a 2001 2.0l cc 206se
I have a sort of pinking noise from the engine when I accelerate hard in 1st 2nd and 3rd gear but fades away in 4th and 5th.Not sure if its pinking or top end engine noise very hard to determine not had it long and not much service history with it. its done 75k and will be changing the timing belt very soon as I don't know if its been chenged. If you drive it like a sunday afternoon going no where driver you can get away with it not making this noise. any ideas or similar problems
