Sorry col,it was dark when I looked the other day, upon a proper inspection and removing the cover more it does look pretty new, whether it's up to the job is questionable

OK. Try the jump lead trick in that case. Battery does sound a bit under spec. You need 1/2 as much again AH
Cheers Col.

That can be one of the symptoms of a failing battery and/or dodgy connectivity.walshawwilly wrote:My mate has taken it now but will tell him,out of interest why does it beep when I unlock it and open the door? Thanks again

Re: 206cc won't start when cold
Right thought I'd give you a quick update to my cold starting problems, I got my car back Friday from the guy who works at a Citroën dealers and he'd supposedly cleaned the throttle body and done a software update that richens the cold start cycle up and advised me to do a proper oil flush using a flushing oil as the tappets were sticking and a bit noisy from cold, anyway Saturday morning it wouldn't start again, the trouble is once it's was running everything seemed to work as it should and couldn't find a problem, so I rang the aa as I thought I could get live data if they plugged diagnostics in while it wouldn't start, anyway he removed the throttle body, each screw cracked as if it hadn't been removed and wasn't very clean, surely to clean it properly it needs removing to clean both sides?fitted again it would start and tick over but wouldn't rev,he tried resetting it via his equipment but it wouldn't, he took the air box back off and with the ignition on gently moved the flap on the throttle body manually to it's maximum and back to minimum and then switched the ignition on and started straight up and ran perfect, prior to this he was getting no readings for throttle angle and throttle percentage, and since has run perfect, now I know I may have to replace the throttle body if it plays up again but I think it's my problem found, I must add also if you revved it quite a bit and let off sometimes it was cutting out though it wasn't doing this at first

It might just be the throttle electronic then ... on some cars you can replace this rather than the whole thing.
So your "mate" didn't do much ..

Also I'm still getting the random beeps and it seems to be getting more frequent, I live up a dirt track and it's quite bumpy, dodgy earth maybe? Which earth's do I need to check and do I need to disconnect the battery prior to cleaning? Or is it just my battery isn't up to the job?

Could be one of the numerous micro-switches .. make sure the boot latches down tight.
And the pull out boot cover. Does it bleep if the cover is in?

Hmmm think my "mate" won't be getting my money again, not sure about the cover will try it,don't think the stepper motor splits from the throttle body, can anyone tell me,my throttle body is a plastic housing with a metal flap and all the new ones have an aluminium body?

Re: 206cc won't start when cold
Well it's something I've not even thought about to be honest but it has run perfectly since, I'm thinking it wasn't opening the butterfly, and his diagnostics showed no values and the engine wouldn't rev, if the flap was stuck shut surely no air it wouldn't start?

Re: 206cc won't start when cold
Yes but you said it was only when very cold. Has it been very cold where you are?

It seems to play up anywhere below about 4 degrees and it's bitter cold here at the moment, it's 3 but feels about -3 with the wind chill, above this it seemed to run ok

Re: 206cc won't start when cold
Update, since I had the aa come out last Sunday and clean and reset the throttle body and throttle pedal it has started fine when cold,I also drained my oil and ran flushing oil in for 30 minutes before draining and refilling with fresh oil and filter, all ok until sat on a long run, coming back it started to stutter and no response from the throttle and then ok again until we got nearly home when it was struggling again and antipolution warning and check light came on,is the throttle body on its way out?
