Just paid £43 pounds to have the new brake pads fitted, part number 425276, Peugeot wanted £93 but said they would fit them free if i bought the pads.
Although this is still £43 pounds to much it is worth it just to stop the embarrassment when stopping at traffic lights. My car is a 51 plate with 10,000miles on it :D :(

52 Reg, bought September 02 -nearly 14,000 miles

Got me new pads fitted Friday, free of charge. No squeaks yet and they seem to perform a lot better than the old ones too

Which pads is it that's supposed to squeel?

I put copper grease on the back of my GTi's front pads the other night and nothing has changed.
I did originally think it was the rear pads that made the noise so maybe it still is.
The rear pads look new and have the Citroen logo on them..

I've checked out the price of front pads in Halfords and they are less than £25! Wonder if these are different to original Peugeot ones....??

Another update: 1000 miles on the new pads and still no squeaks. In another 2000 I'll start to believe it's fixed.

The Bad news :- one of the little rubber 'bungs' that sits on the roof edge and grips the latch post has come off and I'm BXXXXerd if I can get it back on. Another trip to the dealer I guess!

Oh and finally does anyone know where I could get ONE of the black plastic covers that hide the boot rack screws? I've lost one and Peugeot say you have to buy a whole new rack!!!

Have just had my brake pads changed at local dealer £93!!!! Thanks alot.
They would not do it under warranty (only if <12 months, <10000 miles etc etc) :|

Complained like billyo, but nothing, they say that I should take it up with PugUk but they will keep my details for reference!
So I have emailled PugUK and will complain and complain until something happens - I refuse to let this lie as I am NOT responsible for cr*p brake pads!!

Love the car and service recieved (so far!!), apart from this one thing! - May even think about 307cc ;)

Will keep you updated on what happens.

Result!!! :D

A letter conveying my disappointment and disgust direct to Puegeot has done the trick. A Peugeot apology and a refund for the full amount!

Perseverance is the key - do not accept anything other than the best!

Regards

P.S New brakes for 6 weeks - no squeaks!

Had the brake pads replaced for free.

Well, sort of!

I put tippex on the original pads so I could see if they'd been done- when Di brought the cc home only the front ones have been done!

It's going back for the rears to be changed too.
Just because you're paranoid, it don't mean they're not after you.

Hi Guys,

Wonder if anyone could please please help at all. I've had my 206cc for over 2 years from new and the squeaking is driving me mad, i've had enough now. Basically I'm phoning Peugeot this morning but want to sound as if I know what i'm saying! As i said the car is just over 2 years old and done around 19k, what rights have i got (if any) regarding the brake pads? I've just had a brand new set put on at my local garage (not Peugeot) but the squeaking is just as bad, if not worse. Have Peugeot got a policy to change them or am I wasting my time phoning? I have told them before (approx a year ago) and they said there was nothing that they could do. Is this still the case? I've read all the previous posts but can't work out whether garages are following a set procedure regarding this fault.

Cheers in advance
Jo!

they may say that seeing as you've fitted non standard peugeot pads at a non peugeot garage then they aren't even covered by the warranty so basicly tuff luck :( :( but i would still phone them and try n get it booked in ya never know :D

BTW long time no post :(
