New member a few questions

Post by soniafrance »

Hi All

I have just had a 206 cc Black with red and black interior 2.0l model. I am French my Husband is English and he bought it here to France last week. I love it!!! With the weather this week I had the roof down and have a few questions before I take it to the garage. If any one can help thank you!

1. The rear passenger window does not open or close properly. You can put it the good position by hand. I can hear the motor running inside a friend said it has come off the runners, is it easy to fix or do we need a garage?

2. There is a cd jammed in the stereo, and the speakers are not so good i think the back one is blown. I really would like Bluetooth to connect music to my phone, if i had that I do not need cd, can anyone recommend best solution and speakers for around £100.

3. I have been driving with the windows up when roof is down, is that what you normally do? Sounds silly but it was less wind than with them down and because the back window does not work it looked odd with 1 small window up! I have seen the wind deflector on Amazon is this for driving with windows down or up?

4. only sometimes when it starts it make a squeaking noise, my husband says its the fan belt and it needs spraying with oil is that right?

Thank you to anyone who can answer.

You can get kits to repair the rear window mechanism on eBay. It is quite complicated to do it, and quite a lot of work to get access. You have to remove the rear seat, the seat belt and the trim panel. The instructions to do that are available in Peugeot Service Box - £9.99 from here.

I do drive with top down and windows up when it is cool - why not? I think the deflector is probably more effective when the windows are down, but I reckon its not all that good, and you lose access to the rear area.

Do not spray the alternator drive belt with oil - it will shorten its life. You can try using a little oil on the idler and tensioner bearings, but it is quite common for the tensioner bearing to wear out - they are cheap to replace. Best to replace idler, tensioner and belt together.

Hi,
you can spray WD40 over the alternator pulley without harm.
Cheers,
Iain.

Hi Iain

I looked for WD40 and there are lots of types, do i use the blue one with no silicone or the silicone one? Also i saw another post about rear quarter window and they say to spray silicone spray on the seals, GT85 is this the same as WD40?

GT85 is better for window seals as it does not leave as much sticky residue as WD40.

I have no experience of using it on an alternator drive belt, and wouldn't use it for that.

For squeaky bearings, I would choose light machine oil, such as 3 in one.
