No acceleration on hot restart

Post by sjkuhn »

Intermittent problem.

On a long journey if I stop for a break (after couple of hours probably), when I return to car it starts fine but nothing happens when I depress accelerator. The car barely moves (maybe 5 mph or less). If I turn off the ignition and restart, it's fine.

My son now has car and problem getting more frequent (he does more long journeys) and on last occasion switching off and on didn't work. It took over an hour for restart to work properly.

No Engine Management light. Nothing found on diagnostic testing.

Was the diagnostic testing done with Peugeot Planet? The electronic link with the accelerator (if that is the problem) is probably a Peugeot proprietary system, so it may not be catered for in 3rd party diagnostic tools.

Someone had a similar problem on a 307, and it was cured with a firmware "update". It may be that the firmware on the ECU has corrupted - worth getting the ECU reworked?

Throttle body may be sticky. When this next occurs, take the pipework off to expose the throttle butterfly, and get someone to turn on ign. Butterfly should briefly flick open, then shut. If it doesn't, give the area a good spray of carb cleaner and try again
Cheers Col.
