Just got a new 206cc. When i do a sharp break at any speed, the steering pulls left or right, sometimes quite dangerously. Is this common? Should the car do this?

could be the tracking out, the wheels needing balancing or one tyre being inflated different to the other...so I'd suggest checking those 3 things and they should fix the problem :)

enjoy the new car!

Do you know the pressure? They are all 36 at the moment? I tried to follow the manual but it said 3.0 which made no sense. Probably french

Cheers for the reply!

3.0 is probably the BAR figure though I'm sure mine are 3.2 bar...not sure about the psi I'm afraid :( as long as both sides are the same that shouldn't be causing the pulling though, so I'd get the tracking and balancing checked. some places like kwik fit will do tracking checks for free

You say it's a new car. I assume brand new?

Did you bed the brakes (not breaks) in gently for the first couple of hundred miles. Always adviseable to do so to take any high spots off the pads and discs.

If the car is not new it sounds like contamination of the pads (e.g. oil, grease, brake fluid) or sticking calipers.

3.0 bar = 43.5 lb/sq.in

I think 3 is too high... from memory it was 2.5 all round.

Does your cc have ESP? If so can you switch it OFF?
If you have ESP and can’t switch it OFF it’s not active, in which case your cc needs to go back to the dealer to have the ECU reprogrammed.
This is what happened to mine when I first got it…… husband scared himself witless on the M25 braking from Vmax.
