Has anyone had the clutch changed ....mine has started slipping and Pug have quoted over £600  (mostly labour) so i will probably go for one of the independants which quote about half of this....

The main concern is the Pug dealer asked for chasis number to make sure they got the correct one...what differences are there and is this likely to cause a problem if i go to a non-pug place ??

The OE Peugeot clutch is made by Valeo..

Any of the "independants around Swindon will be able to source one from the Likes Of Camberley Motor factors in Cheney manor or Partco etc..

Peugeot only need the chassis number to get the part number from their parts system..

Also buying a valeo one from any of these factors will cost much less than the same clutch in a Peugeot Box.

Thanks a lot at least it should be a standard part....

Cant imagine how they get to the price they quote although i know the labour rate is high... the box cant add that much..... can it ??

I guess it was a quote from Fish Bros?

The clutch is about £90 + vat I think.
6.5 hours labour @ £67 per hour + VAT

= £617.46

Typical dealer price im afraid..

The 206 box is pretty easy to remove as there is no subframe to get in the way..

Or try Mr Clutch up near the IMO car wash in Stratton.. Cheap and chearful probably.. Dunno about the quality of work so I am not recommending them...

Or there are many other places about town that will do it..

Thanks for the info, i have tried a couple of Clutch places around Swindon and they seem happy to quote about £250... and think its not a problem.

I think you are right that this is mostly due to the labour rate and therefore means paying over the odds....and to be honest i can not recommend the work from FB either so i guess its time to try....at least they should kno how to do a clutch ...its about all they do.....

Thanks

i think i met get one "parts only" and get my frindly mobile mechanic to do it ....his labour rate should be far more favourable....

Thanks a lot for the feedback
